Abstract:
The invention relates to a compound of formula (I) or a salt thereof: wherein: R1 is C1-4alkyl, C1-3fluoroalkyl or —(CH2)2OH; R2 is a hydrogen atom (H), methyl or C1fluoroalkyl; R3a is a hydrogen atom (H) or C1-3alkyl; R3 is optionally substituted branched C3-6alkyl, optionally substituted C3-8cycloalkyl, optionally substituted mono-unsaturated-C5-7cycloalkenyl, optionally substituted phenyl, or an optionally substituted heterocyclic group of sub-formula (aa), (bb) or (cc): in which n1 and n2 independently are 1 or 2; and Y is O, S, SO2, or NR4; and wherein Het is of sub-formula (i), (ii), (iii), (iv) or (v): The compounds are phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors, in particular PDE4 inhibitors. Also provided is the use of a compound of formula (I), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment and/or prophylaxis of an inflammatory and/or allergic disease in a mammal such as a human, for example chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, or allergic rhinitis.
Abstract:
A method, and apparatus are provided for controlling transition rates on adjacent interconnects in an electronic chip design. Each interconnect includes a first inverter that receives a net input and provides an initial inverted output and a second inverter coupled to the first inverter receiving the initial inverted output and providing a net output. A first compensating logic transistor stack coupled to the first inverter and a first adjacent net receives the initial inverted output and the first adjacent net input for selectively providing conductive paths. A second compensating logic transistor stack coupled to the first inverter and a second adjacent net receiving the initial inverted output and the second adjacent net input for selectively providing conductive paths.
Abstract:
A control system for a load (10), the system comprising a first microprocessor (16) having an output to drive one side of a load (10), a second microprocessor (18) having an output to drive the other side of the load (10), the system being arranged so that when either microprocessor detects a fault in the control of the load (10) the load (10) is switched off.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for managing information related to backup storage activities of data storage systems. In a computer system having one or more independent backup data storage systems coupled to each other and each serving one or more clients, a user may obtain information related to backup activities of any of the backup storage systems from a single location. Through a user interface associated with any of the backup storage systems, or through a stand alone user interface, a user may manage (e.g., organize, display, print) information related to backup activities of any or all of the backup storage systems. System administrators can design and store a variety of report formats that may be utilized by any user to display or print various parameters associated with backup activities in a particular manner. Report formats may be edited by users, and displayed parameters may be dynamically updated to provide for active monitoring of one or more backup storage systems. Additionally, periodic backup activity reports can be generated and automatically sent to designated locations, for example to one or more printers and/or to one or more designated recipients via E-mail.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for handling information from wireless nodes, including nodes for communication with aircraft, are disclosed. A system in accordance with one aspect of the invention includes a sensor configured to sense information corresponding to a characteristic of a wireless node. The wireless node can be one of a plurality of wireless nodes configured to transmit and receive wireless signals. The wireless nodes can also be linked to a non-wireless network portion. The system can further include a transmitter configured to transmit the information via the network, and a receiver operatively coupled to the transmitter to receive the information via the network. Accordingly, the system can be used to automatically identify and track diagnostic information corresponding to the state of one or more wireless nodes.
Abstract:
A case, more specifically an openable and closeable case for the storage, shipment and retail display of CDs, DVD's, CD-ROM's or similar devices in disk form. The case includes a one-piece case with grooves on its interior sides, which suspend the stored disk in the case, and a rotating closure, which secures a disk within the case. The case is opened and closed through the use of grooves on each exterior end of the rotating closure or through the use of grooves running the length of the closure. A slot with grooves matching the grooves on the case guide disks through the slot and into the case. Nodes on either side of the cylinder hold it to the case via indentations, or “dimples” that snap the cylinder into open and closed positions.
Abstract:
Various systems and methods for performing trapping on media productions of mixed object size. As just one example, a method is disclosed that includes providing a default trapping approach and a modified small element trapping approach. It is determined whether an object is a small element, and based on identification of a small element, one of the default trapping approach, the modified small element trapping approach, and a non-trapping approach is applied to the small element.
Abstract:
The invention includes a computer readable medium storing executable instructions to enroll a user with a secure email support facility. The computer readable medium includes executable instructions to send an enrollment message, supply a registration response, and confirm the registration response. An authentication email is also sent. A client identifies the authentication email. Authentication information within the authentication email is decrypted. The authentication information is used to authenticate the client and subsequently obtain access to a secure email support facility.
Abstract:
A continuously variable planetary gear set is described having a generally tubular idler, a plurality of balls distributed radially about the idler, each ball having a tiltable axis about which it rotates, a rotatable input disc positioned adjacent to the balls and in contact with each of the balls, a rotatable output disc positioned adjacent to the balls opposite the input disc and in contact with each of the balls such that each of the balls makes three-point contact with the input disc, the output disc and the idler, and a rotatable cage adapted to maintain the axial and radial position of each of the balls, wherein the axes of the balls are oriented by the axial position of the idler.
