Abstract: A method and apparatus for bypassing a virtual partner is provided herein. During operation a device will have knowledge of a status of sensors connected to form a personal-area network (PAN) and/or have knowledge of a current incident type assigned to a user. The device will then bypass digital-assistant functionality based on the status of associated PAN devices and/or the incident type. Thus, virtual-partner functionality will be bypassed based on a fact that a public-safety event has occurred. As discussed, the public-safety event may comprise a current incident assigned to a user, or a status of at least one device/sensor connected to form a PAN.

Abstract: A multiunit charging device and method for preemptive data upload is provided. A multiunit charging device controls a first mobile device, received at a plurality of charging stations of the multiunit charging device, to upload first data via a communication unit. After upload of the first data has begun, the multiunit charging device detects that a second mobile device is received at the plurality of charging stations. When an amount of second data for upload at the second mobile device is smaller than a remaining amount of the first data for upload at the first mobile device, the multiunit charging device: preempts uploading of the first data at the first mobile device; and controls the second mobile device to upload the second data via the communication unit.

Abstract: A method for public safety answering point to emergency operations center communications is provided. The method may comprise monitoring incidents at a public safety answering point (PSAP) to determine how many incidents are emergency operations center (EOC) affecting incidents. The method may further comprise determining a PSAP status, the status based in part on the EOC affecting incidents. The method may further comprise sending the PSAP status to an EOC, wherein the EOC determines if a response will be initiated, based, in part, on the PSAP status. The method may further comprise receiving an indication from the EOC that the response will be initiated. The method may further comprise altering a PSAP operations based on the EOC initiating the response.

Abstract: Clock distribution network and method for dynamically changing clock frequency in digital processing system are provided. The method includes receiving, at a first clock input of a first divider, a frequency signal from a clock source and receiving, at a state machine, a first status signal from the first divider, the first status signal indicating a first number of clock edges that have transpired from a first phase reference clock edge of the first divider. The method includes asserting, using the state machine, a first hold signal at a first hold input of the first divider, the first hold signal suspending operation of the first divider when asserted and after asserting the first hold signal, latching a new first divider value into the first divider. The method includes de-asserting, using the state machine, the first hold signal subsequent to latching the new first divider value into the first divider.

Abstract: Methods for managing a device and said device configured to communicate on multiple radio communication systems. The communications device includes a memory and an electronic processor electrically connected to the memory. The processor is configured to store a plurality of keymaps, each keymap of the plurality of keymaps corresponding to at least one of a particular communication system of the multiple radio communication systems and operate, in response to a user input, on a first radio communication system of the multiple radio communication systems. The processor is further configured to manage traffic operations to and from a communication system according to a first keymap of the plurality of keymaps corresponding to the first communication system when the electronic processor is operating on the first radio communication system and perform a key management operation of a selected second keymap corresponding to a second radio communication system in response to receiving a command.

Abstract: Techniques for secure pairing for devices with Near Field Communications (NFC) tags equipped with authentication are provided. In one aspect a device with a passive near field communication tag including a private key for authentication is provided. The device may send a challenge request to a host device including an active NFC tag via a wireless communication protocol. The challenge request may be combined with a shared secret value known to the device and the host device to create a challenge request seed. The challenge request seed may be combined with the private key to compute a verified challenge request response. A challenge request response may be received from the host device via the wireless communication protocol. The challenge request response and verified challenge request response may be compared to authenticate the host device to the device.
