Abstract:
To provide a fuel pipe of an aircraft that makes it possible to maintain temperature of fuel in the fuel pipe at appropriate temperature while giving consideration to reliability that is constantly required for the aircraft. A fuel pipe provided in an airframe of the aircraft includes: an inner pipe defining a flow path through which fuel flows; and an outer pipe surrounding an outer periphery of the inner pipe. A gap is provided between the outer periphery of the inner pipe and an inner periphery of the outer pipe. The inner pipe is made of a rubber material, and the outer pipe is made of a metal material.
Abstract:
A particulate-accommodating fluid flow directing apparatus comprises a failure detection housing containing a flow directing insert, the housing serving as a pressure boundary; failure at any location along the insert being detectable by means associated with the housing. The insert can be manufactured of erosion resistant materials, including non-ductile materials such as ceramics. The insert is sealed to the housing at an inlet and a discharge forming a pressure chamber between the insert and housing. The pressure chamber can be maintained at a pad pressure complementary to the process pressure, the pad pressure being maintained and monitored for indication of insert failure.
Abstract:
Natural gas is produced when LNG that is contained in an insulated LNG cargo tank(s) of a non-self-propelled LNG carrier (i.e., a barge) evaporates as a result of heat leakage through the walls of the insulated cargo tank(s). The natural gas is transferred from the barge to a tugboat or a towboat that is equipped with natural gas burning engines through a flexible gas transfer assembly so that the tugboat is powered by the natural gas fuel. The pressure in the cargo tank(s) on the barge is, therefore, effectively managed to prevent or substantially reduce the buildup of pressure within the LNG cargo tank(s). The LNG can then be contained within the LNG cargo tank(s) for an appropriate period of time and can be delivered at an appropriate and acceptable equilibrium pressure and temperature.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a pipe assembly containing a pipe, an insulating jacket coupled to the pipe via an attachment base; and a tracer wire within the insulating jacket. The width of the attachment base is greater than width of the insulating jacket. Also disclosed herein are methods of locating a pipe concealed below a ground surface, and detecting the presence and the position of a leak in a pipe concealed below a ground surface.
Abstract:
A joint unit includes a first joint member, a second joint member, and a gasket. The first joint member has a female screw portion. The second joint member has a second pipe portion and a second fastener. The second pipe portion has a male screw portion. The second fastener has a second fastener body and a second collar having an annular shape. The second fastener body has an external screw portion that is a male screw. The second collar has at an inner circumferential portion thereof an internal screw portion that is a female screw. The external screw portion is engaged with the female screw portion, and the male screw portion is engaged with the internal screw portion. In the joint unit, the second fastener body and the first joint member are fastened so that the second collar presses the second pipe portion toward the gasket.
Abstract:
A tubular joint has first and second tubular members, a metallic seal ring between the tubular members and having sealing surfaces designed to mate with corresponding sealing surfaces of the tubular members to form a primary seal, an additional seal provided between the tubular members radially outwardly of the primary seal, a fluid channel having an outlet opening in an end surface of the first tubular member radially outwardly of the primary seal and radially inwardly of the additional seal, and annular seal members interposed between the seal ring and the tubular members radially outwardly of the primary seal and radially inwardly of the outlet opening.
Abstract:
A pipe for a conveying line for conveying bulk material has an inner pipe and an exterior pipe surrounding at a spacing the inner pipe, wherein an annular space is formed between the inner pipe and the exterior pipe. A spacer is seated on the inner pipe and arranged in the annular space between the inner pipe and the exterior pipe. The spacer centers the inner pipe and the exterior pipe relative to each other. The spacer supports the exterior pipe by an at least 2-point support.
Abstract:
A device for attaching overheating detection cords, in particular to a pipe for hot gases drawn from the engine of an aircraft, including a bracket with slots into which the cords, surrounded by silicone coils, are placed. Overhanging portions on the edges of the slots and flanges projecting from the base of the slots hold the coils against accidental extraction forces.
Abstract:
A conduit includes at least one tag having a known location, or a plurality of tags having different longitudinal or radial locations or depths, wherein each tag is responsive to a reader to uniquely identify itself. A wear monitoring method and system includes a tag reader and a processor which executes instructions to compare the presence of each tag identified by the reader with a list of all tags initially present in the conduit.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a pipe structure including a pipe that is disposed along an approximately horizontal direction, and has a plurality of ducts through which a gaseous body having a higher temperature than a temperature of a surrounding atmosphere continuously flows, and a plurality of couplings each connecting the ducts together; and a cover covering an outer periphery of the pipe. The cover defines a plurality of vents from which the gaseous body leaking from the pipe flows out of the cover at an interval in a length direction of the pipe. As the plurality of vents, the cover includes at least first vents located corresponding to the couplings. Respective positions of the first vents are substantially set within a range from a two o'clock position to a ten o'clock position through a six o'clock position in a cross sectional surface of the cover.
