Abstract: A computing system may generate an email application and a calendar application. The email application may be configured to retrieve at least one task from a task database, retrieve at least one email from an email database, and concurrently present the at least one retrieved task and the at least one retrieved email in an email user interface, the at least one retrieved task and the at least one retrieved email being adjacent and non-overlapping within the email user interface. The calendar application may be configured to retrieve the at least one task from the task database, retrieve at least one appointment from an appointment database, and concurrently present the at least one retrieved task and the at least one retrieved appointment in a calendar user interface, the at least one retrieved task and the at least one retrieved appointment being adjacent and non-overlapping within the calendar user interface.

Abstract: Implementations relate to an image cache used for replacing portions of images. In some implementations, a method includes examining a received image and detecting a subject depicted in a subject portion of the received image. The method determines a likelihood that the subject portion will be used as a replacement to be inserted in place of one or more corresponding subject portions in future images examined at a later time. The subject portion, or a reference thereto, is stored in an image cache in response to the determined likelihood being greater than a predetermined threshold. The image cache is available to be searched for the subject portion and other portions of images to replace corresponding portions of future images.

Abstract: Systems and method are provided for setting a respective reuse flag for a corresponding document in a plurality of documents based on a query-independent score associated with the corresponding document. A document crawling operation is performed on the plurality of documents in accordance with the reuse flag for respective documents in the plurality of documents. This document crawling operation includes reusing a previously downloaded version of a respective document in the plurality of documents instead of downloading a current version of the respective document from a host computer in accordance with a determination that the reuse flag associated with the respective document meets a predefined criterion.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for enabling users to subscribe to people and other tagged entities is provided herein. Such a method includes maintaining subscription data specifying a plurality of entities subscribed to by a plurality of users, with each of the plurality of entities being a tagged entity associated with a tag. The method further includes identifying a media item associated with one or more tagged entities of the plurality of entities, determining, based on the subscription data, a user of the plurality of users that is subscribed to the tagged entities of the media item, and providing the media item to the user. Other associated systems and methods are also provided.

Abstract: An Electronically-Controlled Register vent (ECRV) that can be easily installed by a homeowner or general handyman is disclosed. The ECRV can be used to convert a non-zoned HVAC system into a zoned system. The ECRV can also be used in connection with a conventional zoned HVAC system to provide additional control and additional zones not provided by the conventional zoned HVAC system. In one embodiment, the ECRV is configured have a size and form-factor that conforms to a standard manually-controlled register vent. In one embodiment, a zone thermostat is configured to provide thermostat information to the ECRV. In one embodiment, the zone thermostat communicates with a central monitoring system that coordinates operation of the heating and cooling zones.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus include computer programs encoded on a computer-readable storage medium for providing content. A method includes: receiving a first request for filling a slot on a first publisher page, the request including an encrypted publisher cookie; providing content responsive to the request; upon receipt of an indication that a user interacted with the content, creating and providing a content serving system cookie; linking the received encrypted publisher cookie with the content serving system cookie; receiving a second, different request for content in association with rendering a second, different publisher page, the second, different request including an encrypted publisher cookie associated with the second different publisher page and the previously provided content serving system cookie; linking the received encrypted publisher cookie associated with the second, different publisher page with the encrypted publisher cookie associated with the first publisher page; and using the linkings to determine content to deliver.

Abstract: A smart-home device may include an energy-storage element that stores energy that is harvested from an environmental system and a solid state relay (SSR) switching integrated circuit (IC). The SSR switching IC may include switching elements that operate in a first state and a second state. The IC may also include a control circuit that causes the switching elements to operate in the first state to activate a function of the environmental system until the energy-storage element has dropped below a threshold. The control circuit may also cause the switching elements to operate in the second state and harvest energy from the environmental system, determine that a first time has elapsed since the switching elements began operating in the second state, and cause the one or more switching elements to again operate in the first state.

Abstract: In general, techniques of this disclosure may enable a computing device to capture one or more images based on a natural language user input. The computing device, while operating in an image capture mode, receive an indication of a natural language user input associated with an image capture command. The computing device determines, based on the image capture command, a visual token to be included in one or more images to be captured by the camera. The computing device locates the visual token within an image preview output by the computing device while operating in the image capture mode. The computing device captures one or more images of the visual token.

Abstract: Locating passenger transit vehicles by detecting interactions. Each interaction is between a transit terminal and a geolocation-enabled user device, and is characterized by data indicative of the interacting terminal, the interacting user device, and the time of interaction. For each detected interaction, a geolocation of the corresponding user device at the time of the interaction is requested; and in response to the requesting, the geolocation of the corresponding user device, the time of the geolocation, and the data indicative of the interacting terminal is received. A particular passenger transit vehicle associated with at least one interacting terminal is identified based on the user device geolocations. The location of the passenger transit vehicle is transmitted for display on user devices.

Abstract: A computing system of a vehicle for controlling a vehicle or systems within a vehicle. The computing system comprises a presence-sensitive panel within the vehicle, an infrared camera configured to capture images in a three-dimensional space within the vehicle, at least one processor; and at least one storage device that stores instructions. When the instructions are executed, they case the at least one processor to: receive, from the presence-sensitive panel, a first indication of input, receive, from the infrared camera, a second indication of input, and determine, based on at least one of the first indication of input or the second indication of input, an operation to be performed.
