Abstract:
A method of processing a color digital image file provides a “metallic,” or a “sepia,” or an “antiqued” image file. The resulting image files may be viewed, for example, on a computer monitor, or may be printed out in hard copy form using a black-and-white or color printer. A color photocopy machine which has a digital image output may be used to produce the original image file, and such a color photocopier (if it will accept digital image files), may also be used to produce the output hard copy printouts of processed image files. Thus, such a digital photocopier may be configured internally to also process image files, and may be employed to selectively process images copied on the machine into the user's choice of a metallic, a sepia, or an antiqued image on the output hardcopy of the color photocopier.
Abstract:
This invention is a digital camera that measures its internal temperature using the dark current of the photo detector. Using the temperature information the digital camera controls its internal temperature by selectively shutting down or slowing down heat generating components.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods in accordance with the present invention relate to fusing of images to imaging media. A method in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention includes defining an initial image area on the imaging media, and ascertaining one or more input parameters corresponding to the initial imaging area. The method further includes determining a heater-on period and/or a heater-on frequency as a function of the one or more input parameters, and operating the heater at the heater-on frequency and/or the heater-on period to fuse the initial imaging area.
Abstract:
Methods for implementing familiar electronic circuits at nanoscale sizes using molecular-junction-nanowire crossbars, and nanoscale electronic circuits produced by the methods. In one embodiment of the present invention, a 3-state inverter is implemented. In a second embodiment of the present invention, two 3-state inverter circuits are combined to produce a transparent latch. The 3-state inverter circuit and transparent-latch circuit can then be used as a basis for constructing additional circuitry, including master/slave flip-flops, a transparent latch with asynchronous preset, a transparent latch with asynchronous clear, and a master/slave flip-flop with asynchronous preset. 3-state inverters can thus be used to compose latches and flip-flops, and latches and flip-flops can be used, along with additional Boolean circuitry, to compose a wide variety of useful, state-maintaining circuits, all implementable within molecular-junction-nanowire crossbars by selectively configuring junctions within the molecular-junction-nanowire crossbars.
Abstract:
A battery powered computer system determines when the system is not in use by monitoring various events associated with the operation of the system. The system preferably monitors the number of cache read misses and write operations, i.e., the cache hit rate, and reduces the system clock frequency when the cache hit rate rises above a certain level. When the cache hit rate is above a certain level, then it can be assumed that the processor is executing a tight loop, such as when the processor is waiting for a key to be pressed and then the frequency can be reduced without affecting system performance. Alternatively, the apparatus monitors the occurrence of memory page misses, I/O write cycles or other events to determine the level of activity of the computer system.
Abstract:
A technique is disclosed for selectively scanning or encoding a desired region of a document. The desired region is identified via scannable indicia on a control form. The region may be outlined by a border preprinted on the form or traced by a user. Preset selectable regions may be identified by codes or other textual descriptions on the form. The form is scanned and the instructions selected by the user are encoded. The selected region is identified and scanned. Only the selected region is scanned, or a larger region is scanned and extraneous data not corresponding to the selected region is eliminated from the resulting data set. The technique permits elimination of unwanted portions of a document automatically, the reduction in scanned file size, and straightforward handling of batch scanning tasks in which selected portions of documents are to be scanned and processed.
Abstract:
Examples of modifiable structures are described herein. In some examples, a structure includes a first lattice. In some examples, the first lattice provides a property of the structure. In some examples, the structure includes a modifiable second lattice. In some examples, the modifiable second lattice may adjust the property of the structure.
Abstract:
An example image forming apparatus includes a storage unit to store color recognition characteristics registered for a plurality of users and a plurality of modification color profiles for compensating each color recognition characteristic, and a processor. The processor, based on a job command for a document of a user being input, is to identify the color recognition characteristics of the user from the storage unit, obtain a modification color profile from the storage unit, and convert the document by using the modification color profile.
Abstract:
A compliant seal in a valve mechanism in a supply station for coupling to a build material container and a method for sealing a build material container are provided. The compliant seal includes a seal ring including a contact surface configured to allow the build material container to rotate while maintaining a sealed channel between the valve mechanism and a build material container. A feature in a back surface of the seal ring opposite the contact surface mates to a corresponding feature on the valve mechanism to prevent the compliant seal from rotating with the build material container A guide ring mounted over an outer portion of the seal ring is configured to direct a build material container into contact with the contact surface as the build material container is inserted into the supply station.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of photosensitive drums respectively corresponding to a plurality of colors to print, on a recording medium, color chart of a plurality of vertical lines in a sub-scanning direction to a main scanning direction of the recording medium and to be arranged at intervals along the main scanning direction. A vertical line of the plurality of vertical lines includes at least two colored sub-lines to be formed by corresponding at least two photosensitive drums. A processor is to perform a correction in non-linear color registrations in the main scanning direction using an image of the color chart.
