    Abstract: Techniques are provided for operating a vehicle in a first vehicle mode; operating at least one component of the vehicle in a first component mode; detecting a first change in operation of the vehicle from the first vehicle mode to a second vehicle mode different from the first vehicle mode; based on the detected the first change in the operation of the vehicle, predicting a second change in operation of the vehicle; in response to predicting the second change in operation of the vehicle, operating the at least one component in a second component mode different from the first component mode prior to the predicted second change in operation of the vehicle.

    Abstract: An electrical safety system comprises a main safety device including a N-type transistor and an auxiliary safety device including a P-type transistor, alternately activated under command of a controller. The N-type transistor and the P-type transistor have the function of overcurrent protection, respectively in a first operating mode and in a second operating mode. The auxiliary safety device includes a passive component, connected in series with the P-type transistor, for providing a voltage drop when a current passes through the passive component, and a driving circuit for turning off the P-type transistor under control of the voltage drop exceeding a first threshold, in the second operating mode.

    Abstract: An illustrative example vehicle to everything (V2X) system includes at least one V2X antenna and a V2X transceiver coupled with the V2X antenna. The V2X transceiver is configured to communicate using a first frequency band. A receiver is configured to receive communications on at least a second frequency band that is different than the first frequency band. A controller is configured to selectively cause the receiver to be configured to receive communications on the first frequency band and determine a condition of at least one of the V2X transceiver and the V2X antenna based on an indication from the receiver regarding any communication received by the receiver on the first frequency band from the V2X transceiver and the V2X antenna.

    Abstract: A lane assignment system includes a digital-map, a ranging-sensor, and one or more controller-circuits. The digital-map indicates a position of a host-vehicle traveling in a travel-lane on a roadway. The ranging sensor detects a lateral-distance to an other-vehicle traveling on the roadway proximate the host-vehicle. The one or more controller-circuits are in communication with the digital-map and the ranging-sensor. The one or more controller-circuits determine a lateral-variation of the lateral-distance, determine whether the lateral-variation is greater than a dynamic-threshold, determine whether a second-lane exists beyond a first-lane based on the digital-map, determine that the other-vehicle is traveling in the first-lane, and operate the host-vehicle in accordance with the other-vehicle traveling in the first-lane.

    Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment, a braking-system suitable for use on an automated vehicle is provided. The braking-system includes a ranging-sensor, a braking-actuator, and a controller in communication with the ranging-sensor and the braking-actuator. The ranging-sensor is used to detect a range-rate, a range, and a direction of an object proximate to a host-vehicle when the object resides in a field-of-view of the ranging-sensor. The field-of-view defines a conflict-zone and a conflict-buffer separate from the conflict-zone. The braking-actuator is used to control movement of the host-vehicle. The controller determines a trail of the object based on the range and the direction. The controller further classifies the object as slow-moving based on a rate-threshold. The controller further determines a tangent-vector based on the trail. The controller activates the braking-actuator when the object is slow-moving, the object is detected within the conflict-buffer, and the tangent-vector intersects the conflict-zone.
