Abstract:
The present invention discloses systems and methods for tracking packages inbound to a user. One embodiment of the invention discloses a process by which shipping information is analyzed to determine the various ways in which shippers have previously identified a consignee location. A consignee alias table is generated that lists the various combinations of consignee name and address used by shippers to identify the consignee location. Package level detail is then received from a carrier and compared against a consignee alias database to identify packages that are inbound to the consignee location, and a consignee location table is updated that monitors the status and anticipated delivery date of all packages inbound to the consignee location.
Abstract:
A shipping system for shipping packages involving the coordinated use of at least a first carrier and a second carrier. The shipping system includes physical delivery facilities for the physical delivery of packages, the physical delivery facilities including at least one transfer location at which the second carrier may take over delivery responsibilities for a package. The shipping system also includes an information system having a shipper computer system configured to record and determine whether the delivery address of a package is an efficient destination for the first carrier. If not an efficient destination, such as a delivery address having a rural zip code, the shipper computer system is configured to label the package for delivery to one of the transfer locations, allowing the first carrier to transfer the selected package to the second carrier for completion of the less efficient portion of the delivery.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for palletizing rectangular packages received in random size and weight. A nullcornernull-based modeling system is used to assist in evaluating possible placements of packages accumulated on a line conveyor, and a placement evaluation process is used to select a nullbestnull package placement based on heuristic analysis. Statistically-based measurement and comparison is used to assist in the evaluation process.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for measuring and sorting parcels, including the concept of determining at least one component of the gravity center of said parcels. Determination of the gravity center component includes the use of a tilting action in combination with the use of sensors to sense the movement of the parcels as they tilt. Another concept includes the use of sensors to determine whether a parcel is sufficiently rigid to provide a tilting action, or whether the parcel is flexible and thus does not provide a tilting action so much as it provides a flexing action over the pivot point.
Abstract:
Methods and systems disclosed herein are used to deliver a package or product to an alternate delivery location (ADL) for pick up by a customer or authorized retriever. The customer can register to receive delivery of a package or product with an ADL solution provider before delivery of the product, or may do so when purchasing the product. Alternatively, a product or package can be shipped from sender to an ADL for pick up by a person, outside of the context of purchasing a product. The methods and systems also offer the capability to track transported packages or products.
Abstract:
A product delivery system that moves products from manufacturing plant to destination. Particularly applicable to the delivery of vehicles from vehicle assembly plants to dealerships, the system utilizes a centralized management organization overseeing independent entities in a delivery network, and provides a management team with improved visibility of and improved tools for operating the network, such as a tracking system by which managers in many parts of the network have access to the status of individual products and network facilities, a simulation tool by which managers can test scenarios for the purpose of changing product routing plans based on predicted capacity and bottlenecks, and a planning tool that can facilitate preparation of product routing plans in response to information from the other tools. The system also uses feedback from the delivery network to influence the sequence in which the products are manufactured.
Abstract:
The present invention provides systems and methods for processing foreign origin parcels through Customs and individuals through security checkpoints. The system includes a database stored on a computer readable medium having data records associated with each foreign origin parcel or individual. Associated with the database is a processor having a search engine for performing searches on the information in the data records based on criteria selected by a user. The system further includes an interface. The interface allows the user to select search criteria to be used by the processor to search the data records. The interface displays the results of the search to the user and allows the user to select parcels or individuals identified during the search for inspection. In addition, the processor and interface allows the user to electronically store notes taken during the inspection, such that the information related to the inspection can be electronically archived.
Abstract:
A system for facilitating the opening of accounts by a plurality of backend systems. The account opening system includes a front-end interface that interacts with a customer to collect customer information such as an account-type selection, billing information and pickup location information. A backend interface of the system pre-validates the customer information and routes the customer information to the backend systems for activation of the account. The backend interface also includes a monitor that determines the availability of the backend systems and a cache that stores the open account request and customer information for later routing when the backend systems are temporarily unavailable. Advantageously, pre-validation of the customer information allows the backend interface to distribute an account number to the customer in real time when the backend systems are unavailable. Pre-validation ensures that the customer information is sufficiently correct to allow later activation of the account by the backend systems.
Abstract:
The present invention provides systems and methods for controlling access to networked applications. An embodiment of the invention discloses using developer and access keys to validate and control user access to one or more network applications. The network access and licensing system disclosed includes a customer computer, one or more network tools, and an access application configured to issue and license the use of developer and access keys.
Abstract:
The present invention provides systems and methods that automatically notify customers of available higher levels of service for package delivery if available. Typically, customers query a delivery company to determine how long it would take to have a package delivered by standard ground delivery. In accordance with the present invention, the customer will also be notified of a higher level of service if it is available for delivery of the package.
