Abstract:
An electric motor having an electromagnetically operated clutch automatically engageable to lock the motor shaft against rotation in at least one direction. Embodiments are described in which interruption of the power to the motor causes engagement of the clutch and in which application of power to the motor causes disengagement of the clutch. Also disclosed is an automatic sliding door assembly operated by an electric motor having an electromagnetically operable clutch which is engaged on interruption of power to the motor to lock the motor shaft against rotation in one direction.
Abstract:
A sliding type door assembly for a vehicle, includes a guide rail fixed to the body of the vehicle, a door moving along the guide rail between its closed position and rear most open position, a guide follower attached to the door in such a manner that the guide follower can follow the door along the guide rail when the door moves, a brake mechanism for applying the braking power to the door by controlling the movement of the guide follower in relation to the guide rail, and a brake release means connected to the brake mechanism for releasing the brake mechanism.
Abstract:
A furniture hinge for two housing parts has a housing mounted on one furniture part, a hinge arm mounted on the other furniture part, two pivotable hinge plates pivotally connecting the housing with the hinge arm, a spring which forms a locking device, a cylinder-and-piston unit having a piston pivotally mounted on the hinge arm and a brake cylinder slidably movable relative to the piston under the action of a cam lever mounted on one of the hinge plates and arranged to move the brake cylinder relative to the piston, wherein the sliding surface of the brake cylinder and/or the piston has a friction-increasing coating.
Abstract:
A brake of this type has a brake shaft and a brake wing secured to the shaft so that the wing is rotatable with the shaft in a brake housing filled with a brake medium. A cam ring located in the brake housing has a control curve or surface which cooperates with a cut-out in the brake wing so that the size of a gap formed between the cam ring surface and the brake wing depends on the angular position of the wing relative to the cam ring whereby the dampening action of the brake medium on the movement of the brake wing varies with said angular position of the brake wing relative to the normally stationary cam ring.
Abstract:
Ventilation device with a vent pivotally mounted in a frame and restrained against opening forces by a locking mechanism and also connected to the frame by a hydraulic brake or damper designed to gradually reduce the opening speed of the vent at least towards the end of the opening movement.
Abstract:
A dashpot or damper has means for compensating for changes of viscosity in the damping fluid due to changes of temperature. Restricted flow paths for the damping fluid that determine the damping force are composed in part of members that are displaceable with changes of temperature so that the crosssectional areas of the flow paths vary at different temperatures and compensate at least partially for the concurrent fluid viscosity changes.
