Abstract:
A combined cycle power plant with a gas turbine, steam turbine, and first HRSG comprises a CO2 capture plant for the at least partial capture of CO2 from the exhaust gases from the gas turbine. It comprises in particular a second HRSG or boiler arranged to receive a portion of the exhaust gases and transfer its heat to steam and feedwater. Steam generated in the second HRSG or boiler is used for the operation of the CO2 capture plant and/or to operate a steam turbine that drives a generator and optionally a CO2 compressor. The power plant according to the invention allows for greater flexibility in power plant part load control and power plant efficiency. A method to operate the power plant is also claimed.

A system for reducing NOx in a flue gas stream, including an absorption element, a first inlet in fluid communication with the chamber configured to deliver a pressurized flue gas to the chamber, and a second inlet in fluid communication with the chamber configured to deliver an absorbing additive to the chamber. An outlet is in fluid communication with the chamber to exhaust from the chamber flue gas that has contacted the absorbing additive. A method for reducing NOx in a flue gas including the steps of: providing a flue gas in a chamber of an absorption element, providing an absorbing additive so that it contacts at least a portion of the flue gas, and exhausting at least a portion of the flue gas from the chamber.
Abstract:
A system and a method is provided for removing carbon dioxide from a gas stream. One aspect of the method includes introducing a carbon dioxide-containing gas stream to an absorber. The gas stream is contacted with an ammonia-containing solvent for absorbing, with the ammonia-containing solvent, the carbon dioxide from the gas stream, thereby removing the carbon dioxide from the gas stream.
Abstract:
A solar thermal power system can include a solar receiver steam generator, a thermal energy storage arrangement utilising a thermal energy storage fluid, and a multistage steam turbine for driving an electrical generator to produce electrical power. The solar thermal power system has a first operating mode in which steam is generated by the solar receiver steam generator and is supplied both to the thermal energy storage arrangement and to a high pressure turbine inlet of the multistage steam turbine. In a second operating mode, steam is generated by recovering stored thermal energy from the thermal energy storage fluid of the thermal energy storage arrangement for injection into the multistage steam turbine at a location or turbine stage downstream of the high pressure turbine inlet.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for operation of a combined-cycle power plant with cogeneration, in which method combustion air is inducted in at least one gas turbine, is compressed and is supplied to at least one combustion chamber for combustion of a fuel, and the resultant exhaust gas is expanded in at least one turbine, producing work, and in which method the exhaust gas emerging from the at least one turbine is passed through a heat recovery steam generator in order to generate steam, which generator is part of a water-steam circuit with at least one steam turbine, a condenser, a feedwater tank and a feedwater pump, wherein heat is provided by extracting steam from the at least one steam turbine. In a method such as this, the electricity production is decoupled from the steam production in that in order to restrict the electricity production while the heat provided by means of steam extraction remains at a constant level, a portion of the inducted combustion air is passed through the at least one turbine to the heat recovery steam generator without being involved in the combustion of the fuel in the gas turbine, and in that this portion of the combustion air is used to operate at least one supplementary firing in the heat recovery steam generator.
