Abstract:
A mine hoist includes a shaft with two drums mounted thereon, one of which is turnable with respect to the shaft. An arrangement is provided for adjusting the relative angular positions of the shaft on the two drums. The movable drum is normally connected to the shaft by a friction clutch which is held in engagement by spring pressure and is released by the operation of a fluid pressure cylinder.
Abstract:
A socket for mounting and connecting electrical devices having pin outputs is formed of a lid and a boxed-shaped bottom part. The lid has a plurality of holes arranged in pairs for receiving pins, while the bottom part has a hollow opposite each pair of holes for receiving a connecting element formed with pairs of tongues for detachable locking contact elements inserted from the lower side of the bottom part. Between rows of pairs of holes on the top part are three holes arranged in a vertical row, opening into a recess in the bottom side of the bottom part. A shortcircuiting device insertable into the recess has a pair of contacts for receiving pins inserted through the two outermost of the three holes and a movable short-circuiting contact engageable by a pin passing through the central hole.
Abstract:
A chain of series-connected semiconductor rectifiers has a voltage divider connected in parallel therewith. A firing circuit is connected on the one hand to the control electrode and to one of the main electrodes of each rectifier and on the other hand to two different points on the voltage divider. The firing circuit derives a control voltage between such points, which is fed to the rectifier by a switching means, such as an optically controlled semiconductor.
Abstract:
An adjustable gasket for sealing the space between two flanges which are arranged at a certain distance from each other with the help of a first and a second spacer, comprising a ribbon of elastic material arranged between the two spacers and close to the second spacer, a resilient strip of steel or the like arranged between the first spacer and the ribbon close to the ribbon, a number of pressure means situated between the flanges and arranged to press the strip and the elastic ribbon against the second spacer.
Abstract:
For protecting series capacitors in high voltage electrical conductors, two circuits are provided in parallel with the capacitor, each containing a spark gap and a switch. A third switch constituted by a breaker can short circuit the capacitor. A control device is provided which, when one of the spark gaps ignites, closes the breaker, and thereafter opens the switch in the circuit of the ignited spark gap. When the fault ceases, the breaker opens and, shortly thereafter, the opened switch is reclosed.
Abstract:
In the manufacture of objects or components with one part having larger dimensions and one part having slim and/or elongated form, a billet is used which in a first step is forged, preferably cold-forged to a blank with decreasing cross section. This blank is thereafter, possibly after annealing and machining, extruded by means of liquid pressure to the desired shape and dimension at the narrow end of the blank.
Abstract:
A body to be compressed is inserted within a flexible container containing a compression medium compatible with the body and the container is then placed within an outer compression chamber containing another compression medium compatible with the container and chamber.
Abstract:
A DEVICE FOR DETECTING FAULTS IN A NUCLEAR REACTOR BY ANALYZING SAMPLES OF THE REACTOR COOLING MEDIUM HAS A MOVABLE SAMPLING MEMBER SITUATED INSIDE THE REACTOR VESSEL AND CONNECTIBLE TO THE FUEL ELEMENTS ONE BY ONE AND A SAMPLING CONDUIT CONNECTED BETWEEN THE SAMPLING MEMBER AND A MONITORING SYSTEM SITUATED OUTSIDE THE REACTOR VESSEL.
Abstract:
In a static converter which includes a delay angle control device, a control amplifier for controlling the delay angle control device, and an arrangement for blocking the converter. In order to provide for rapid starting of the converter a limiting member for limiting the delay angle of the converter so as to limit the direct voltage of the converter is controlled by the output signal of the blocking device over a switch delaying circuit. A transient order device is also connected to the input side of the control amplifier to increase the input signal of the amplifier and the transient order device is actuated by the blocking means for the DC transmission line connected to the converter. An under-voltage sensitive device actuated by the voltage in an AC network connected to the converter is connected in parallel to the blocking device, and the two parallel devices are connected to the limiting member and the transient order device by an OR gate.
Abstract:
A relay device operating in response to abnormal conditions in a line includes an arrangement for deriving from the line a current proportional to the current in the line. One terminal of this current deriving device is connected to the midpoint of a pair of rectifiers connected in series. The other terminal is connected to the midpoint between resistances of equal value connected in series with the pair of rectifiers. In the connection between the midpoint of the resistances and the terminal of the current deriving device is arranged the primary of a transformer. The secondary of this transformer through a full-wave rectifier feeds the relay in parallel with a resistance. The arrangement is such that the relay is fed with the difference between the voltage across the latter resistance and the voltage across the two equal resistances.
