Abstract:
The subject invention concerns materials and methods useful in the control of pests and, particularly, the plant pests. More specifically, the subject invention concerns novel genes and pesticidal toxins referred to as 86A1(b) and 52A1(b). In preferred embodiments, the subject toxins are used for controlling flea beetles of the genus Phyllotreta. Using the genes described herein, the transformation of plants can be accomplished using techniques known to those skilled in the art. In addition, the subject invention provides toxin genes optimized for expression in plants.
Abstract:
An emissive layer in an organic light emitting device comprising a heterostructure comprises a host material, an emissive molecule, present as a dopant in said host material, adapted to luminesce when a voltage is applied across the heterostructure; and a polarization molecule, present as a dopant in said host material and having a dipole moment, that affects the wavelength of light emitted when said emissive dopant molecule luminesces, wherein said polarization molecule is selected from the group consisting of N,N-dimethylparanitroaniline, certain polyphenyls, certain stilbenes, certain fluorenes, and certain diphenylacetylenes, and a method for making same.
Abstract:
A process and apparaus for recovery water from raw sewage extracted directly from the sewer including a screen(2) operable to obtain from raw sewage a screened effluent having a maximum particle size of no more than 900 microns. The apparatus also comprises a first membrane separator(5) which is operable to filter the suspended solids from some or all of the screened effluent. The process also includes a second membrane separator preferably in the form of reverse osmosis filter(8).
Abstract:
A concentrated cleaning composition for cleaning outdoor painted/stained surfaces. The concentrated cleaning solution includes an aqueous chlorinated bleach solution, a surfactant, a phosphate and a silicate. The concentrated cleaning solution is diluted with water to form a diluted composition which is applied to the surfaces to be cleaned to effect loosening of soil. Thereafter, the loosened soil is removed by the mechanical action of a water spray.
