Abstract:
Apparatus for orienting pear halves, or similar irregularly contoured objects, with the cut flat face down and in longitudinal alignment with their direction of travel along the apparatus. The apparatus is such as to cause a pear half preliminarily oriented in a generally face down position to gravitally align itself at both its enlarged and narrow ends and be maintained in a final position of face down longitudinal alignment.

Abstract:
A flume for supplying vegetable pieces in a supply of liquid, the flume extending between a flume inlet and a flume outlet, the flume comprising: a gulley section having an upstream inlet end at the flume inlet and a downstream outlet end, the gulley section having opposed sidewalls and a gulley floor therebetween, and a spreader section having opposed first and second lateral walls and a spreader floor therebetween, the spreader section having an upstream end connected to the downstream outlet end of the gulley section, the spreader section progressively increasing in width between the opposed first and second lateral walls in a downstream direction from the upstream end to a downstream end of the spreader section, wherein the opposed first and second lateral walls are each outwardly inclined away from a longitudinal axis of the spreader section by a respective angle α° for the first lateral wall and β° for the second lateral wall, in respective opposite directions, which extends from the upstream end of the spreader section to the downstream end of the spreader section, wherein the gulley section has a width of the gulley floor at the downstream outlet end of W1, the length of the spreader section between the upstream and downstream ends of the spreader section is N, and the dimensionless ratio N/W1 is within the range of from 2 to 15, and wherein the sum of α° and β° is from 10 to 25°.
Abstract:
An item packing system configured to sort and/or pack items into item containers, the system comprising a robotic arm. At least one end effector for holding and manipulating an item to be sorted and/or packed, wherein at least one end effector comprises a pressure sensing assembly. A controller configured to receive sensor signals from the pressure sensing assembly to obtain an indication of a magnitude of contact pressure for contact between the end effector and the item held by the end effector. A direction of contact pressure for contact between the end effector and the item held by the end effector, wherein the controller is configured to determine whether the end effector is correctly holding the item based on the indication of the magnitude of the contact pressure and the indication of the direction of contact pressure.
Abstract:
Systems and methods capable of transferring items from a bin are described. A de-binning system includes an item transfer apparatus including a transfer conveyor configured to move a conveyor belt surface, and a bin sub-frame coupled to the transfer conveyor and configured to receive a bin. While an item-containing bin is secured to the bin sub-frame, the bin sub-frame and the transfer conveyor are inverted to transfer the items onto the transfer conveyor, which can move the items onto a second conveyor belt. Various aspects of the present systems and methods prevent damage to the surface of delicate items being transferred.
Abstract:
A producing conveying system may include a conveying assembly having a continuous drive chain for driving the conveyance of produce along a plurality of fingers engaged with the drive chain. A conveying assembly may include a pair of augers, with a first auger extending across a first set of fingers and with a second auger extending across a second set of fingers. Each of the augers may rotate produce as the produce is conveyed, with the rotational axis being parallel to the direction of conveyance. A conveying assembly can also include a finger retention track for retaining a retention tab of a finger therein during produce conveyance. At an unloading portion of the conveying assembly, an ejection cam disposed within openings in the finger retention track may be actuated to allow the release of the retention tab and subsequent ejection of produce.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a filling device (2) for filling a holder with vulnerable products, for instance apples, and a method therefor. The filling device according to the invention comprises:—a main frame (14) provided with an elevator conveyor (4) with a supply side (10) and a filling side (12);—a distributing device (28) connected operatively to the filling side of the elevator conveyor and provided with one or more distributors configured to distribute products over the holder;—height adjusting means (42,44) configured to move the distributing device in the height relative to the holder such that the distributing device is movable in the height during filling of the holder; and—a supply side guide arranged (66,68,70) on the main frame (14) for operation with the height adjusting means and configured to align the supply side of the elevator conveyor with a delivery end of a feed conveyor during a movement of the distributing device in the height.
Abstract:
The problem of singulating oblong articles (1a, 1b, 1c, 2a, 2b) that are unloaded in an arbitrary orientation onto a conveyor has been solved in that the conveying trough (4) is divided into a central, lower part (5) and surrounding upwards-and-outwards extending parts (6, 7), whereby the central part (5) vibrates with a longitudinal amplitude that is higher than that of the upwards-and-outwards extending parts (6, 7) at the same frequency.
