Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and program for replicating a file. A file is copied to a target storage file system stored as a base file. A reference file comprising the copied file is generated at a local storage. An update is applied to the file at the local storage. A delta file is generated indicating differences between the updated file at the local storage and the reference file. A file system command is used to transmit the delta file to the target storage file system store to store in a directory of the target storage file system, wherein the file in the local storage is replicated at the target storage by a combination of the base file and the delta file.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of writing data to and reading data from a memory (102) by a host. By limiting processing time, time restrictions regarding the data to be processed can be met. However, this is at the expense of data integrity. By setting time limits for a group (300) of multiple processing assignments and dynamic allocation of time, reserved for error recovery and retries, data integrity can be improved, while time limits can still be met. Furthermore, by attaching priorities to the assignments, multiple types of data can be handled in one group of assignments. For example, assignments with real-time requirements can be put in a group with assignments with best effort requirements. In this way, more flexible planning of processing assignments is possible. The invention also relates to a system for writing data to and reading data from a memory.

Abstract: A tunable filter includes a polarizing beam splitter and a half-wave plate that produce two equally polarized beams from an arbitrarily polarized input light. The polarized beams are directed toward a tunable component that consists of an optical substrate coated with a filter and a reflective element on its back and front surface, respectively. The pass and stop beams emerging from the tunable component are retro-reflected by roof structures and passed again through the filter. As a result of this combination of components, the filter's performance is not dependent on polarization and the filter's output channels are not shifted or deviated by tuning.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for retaining a length of fiber optic cable to a circuit board includes a body portion. The body portion of the apparatus includes at least a pair of spaced legs extending from the body portion, each of the legs is adapted to be received in a mounting opening formed in the PC board. Each of the spaced legs includes a foot portion adapted for securing the body to the circuit board and at least a pair of spaced arms extend from the body portion defining a slot between the arm and the body portion for receiving and retaining a portion of the length of fiber optic cable. The arms are spaced a distance from each other for retaining the fiber optic cable in an arc having a radius greater than a minimum bend radius of the fiber optic cable.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for inflating a balloon at a distal portion of an elongated delivery catheter to contact surrounding biological tissue, and expanding a refrigerant adjacent the balloon to cool the biological tissue to render it non-viable. The inflation of the balloon can be accomplished with the expanded refrigerant or with a separate pressurized fluid. The balloon can act as a heat transfer element, or there can be a separate heat transfer element on the catheter adjacent the balloon. The apparatus can be used to perform a dilation procedure, such as angioplasty, in conjunction with cooling of the surrounding tissue.

Abstract: An optical recording head is provided which includes a slider body having a leading edge. A void is formed in the slider body to receive a sphere of optically transparent material. The sphere is inserted into the void such that a portion of the sphere protrudes from the slider body. The protruding portion is lapped to be coplanar with a surface of the slider body to form a near-field lens. A mesa may be formed onto the lapped portion and may include a coil. The slider body, mesa, near-field lens, and coil may be formed in one batch process.
