Abstract: Secure communication of user inputs is achieved by isolating part of an endpoint device such that certificates and encryption keys are protected from corruption by malware. Further, the communication is passed through a trusted data relay that is configured to decrypt and/or certify the user inputs encrypted by the isolated part of the endpoint device. The trusted data relay can determine that the user inputs were encrypted or certified by the protected certificates and encryption keys, thus authenticating their origin within the endpoint device. The trusted data relay then forwards the inputs to an intended destination. In some embodiments, the isolated part of the endpoint device is configured to detect input created by auto-completion logic and/or spell checking logic.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system (1100) to permit access and operation of a machine (100). The machine has a ignition switch arrangement (1152) actuable by at least user manipulation thereof and arranged to enable operation of the machine and at least one immobilizer arrangement (1150) connected with the ignition switch arrangement and configured to selectively inhibit or permit operation of the machine via the switch arrangement. The system comprises a proximity detection arrangement (1110, 1120) associable with the machine and adapted for detection and reading of at least one proximity identification device (1132) carried or worn by a user of the machine. A control arrangement (1122) is responsive to detection by the proximity detection arrangement of a valid device to thereby disarm the immobilizer arrangement. The proximity detection arrangement is at least operationally independent of the ignition switch arrangement and any key actuator (1400) thereof. Desirably the proximity detection arrangement includes a flat flexible antenna having a coil printed as a circuit upon a substrate. The antenna may be affixed to a window of the machine to permit scanning of the identification deice from an exterior thereof and to thereby control access to the machine to permit the operation thereof.

Abstract: A control system for controlled exercise controls a functional electrical stimulation (FES) system which applies electrical signals to muscle groups of a user such as a user having a disability; the user exercises on a motor driven exercise machine such that substantially isokinetic exercise during a movement is obtained as the user's body part moves with a motor driven displaceable element of the machine. This element provides resistance to applied displacement load from the user's stimulated muscles. Abstract: Aqueous suspensions of papermaking fibres and filler are each separately treated with an anionic or a cationic polymer, after which the filler (preferably) or the papermaking fibre is treated with a polymer of opposite charge to that used in the initial treatment. The filler and papermaking suspensions are then mixed to form a papermaking stock, with dilution as necessary before, during or after the mixing operation. This stock is then used to form a loaded paper web in conventional manner. The initial treating polymer is preferably a papermaking retention aid or flocculant, e.g. a cationic polyarcylamide or an amine/amide/epichlorohydrin copolymer in the case of cationic materials or an anionic polyacrylamide in the case of anionic materials.
