Abstract:
An electrical contact is provided that includes a body configured to be held on a circuit board. The body of the contact is movable relative to the circuit board along at least a first axis of motion. The contact includes a contact portion joined with the body that is configured to engage an electrical component. The contact portion may include one or more contact beams. The contact further includes a termination lead joined to the body and having an outer end that is configured to be soldered to the circuit board. The termination lead extends from the body at an acute or right angle to the first axis of motion. The termination lead flexes about an arcuate path as the body of the contact shifts along the first axis of motion with respect to the circuit board.
Abstract:
Packaging apparatus is provided for packaging a flexible photoconductive belt loop to prevent light from shocking the flexible photoconductive belt loop during shipping and during loading into an image reproduction machine. The packaging apparatus includes (a) a cut sheet of light occluding and protective flexible member for wrapping over the flexible photoconductive belt loop. The cut sheet has a length L2 including a first end, a second end, and (iv) at least one loop tacking aperture formed through a second end portion thereof. The packaging apparatus also includes a first adhesive tape member applied over the second end portion, through the at least one loop tacking aperture, and onto a first end portion. The packaging apparatus further includes a plurality of packaging cores, and a second adhesive tape member applied over the second end and over a portion of the main body portion.
Abstract:
A packaging machine and method are provided for wrapping, folding and taping a flexible photoconductive belt loop to prevent light from shocking such photoconductive belt loop during shipping and during loading into a machine. The packaging machine for the method includes mandrels holding cylindrical cores for supporting, tensioning and folding the flexible photoconductive belt loop; devices for feeding a light occluding and protective flexible sheet over the flexible photoconductive belt loop to form a belt and sheet assembly; an aperture former for forming a loop tacking aperture through a loop tacking portion of one end of the light occluding and protective flexible sheet; folding and end-tucking mechanisms for folding the belt and sheet assembly into a tightly folded pattern around the cylindrical cores; and first and second taping stations for applying an end pull tab tape, and a loop tacking tape over the loop tacking portion and through the loop tacking aperture onto a portion of the light occluding and protective flexible sheet underneath the loop tacking portion thereof.
Abstract:
A method of creating a wellbore in an underground formation comprising drilling a borehole in the underground formation using a drilling tubular, capable of being expanded, to which a downhole motor driving a drill bit has been connected, and, after drilling to the desired casing setting depth, expanding the drilling tubular into place to line the borehole by applying a radial load to the drilling tubular and removing said load from the drilling tubular.
Abstract:
A surge protector assembly may be provided with three terminals, a gas discharge tube having a first conductive end and a second conductive end opposite the first conductive end, a pair of metal oxide varistors conductively connected to the ends of the gas discharge tube, and a pair of bracket arms associated with the ends of the gas discharge tube. The bracket arms are movable between a steady-state position in which they cause the first and second terminals to be conductively separated from the third terminal and a shorting position in which they cause the first and second terminals to be conductively connected to the third terminal. The bracket arms are spaced from the ends of the gas discharge tube by a first distance when they are in their steady-state positions and by a second distance when they are in their shorting positions, with the first distance being greater than the second distance, and the bracket arms are spring-biased towards their shorting positions.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to the use of glial-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) to inhibit or prevent seizure activity. The methods of the present invention are accomplished by administering GDNF to patients having or potentially having a neurodegenerative disorder such as epilepsy. Pharmaceutical compositions containing a therapeutically effective amount of GDNF in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier are also provided.
Abstract:
A retrievable packoff assembly for temporarily sealing a well pipe and anchoring equipment at a subsurface location within the pipe. The assembly is connected to a tubular actuation tool which is manipulated from the surface to position the assembly at a subsurface well location, set the assembly and then release from the set assembly. Right-hand tool rotation sets the assembly, releases the tool, and is subsequently employed to reengage and unset the assembly for retrieval to the surface. A bypass flow passage in the assembly is controlled by a sliding sleeve valve which is automatically closed by the right-hand tool rotation during setting and release and automatically reopened by tool rotation occurring during retrieval of the assembly. Flow through both the assembly and the bypass is confined within the actuation tool. A control flow passage in the apparatus is sealed by a retrievable blanking plug which may be removed to permit passage of equipment through the anchored assembly. The sealed assembly holds pressure from above or below. Drill pipe or other equipment may be supported in the well pipe by the set assembly.
