摘要: An electrical power conversion system for converting power from one voltage to another, especially for converting a higher-voltage, direct current electrical power system, such as a thirty-six volt to forty-two volt (36V-42V) direct current system for vehicles, into a voltage acceptable for powering lower voltage equipment, such as those using twelve volt to fourteen volt (12V-14V) DC vehicle electrical power systems is disclosed. The invention provides the ability to control the operating states of the loads by coupling a control signal to the vehicle's electrical power bus. The invention can take advantage of current or future DC-to-AC inverter or DC-to-DC converter technology and anticipated vehicle electrical systems to devise a electrical power conversion and control system meeting the needs of various vehicle loads.

摘要: The invention is directed to a surge arrestor having a middle electrode and at least one outer electrode, in which an electrically conductive spring clip is secured to the middle electrode and exerts a spring power on the outer electrode; in which an electrical component part that is non-conductive at the trigger voltage of the surge arrestor and generates heat given a flow of current is arranged between the spring clip and the outer electrode; in which the spring clip lies against an electrically conductive contact element that is secured to a spacer element using a fusible mass and that is spaced from the outer electrode; and in which, when the fusible mass melts, the contact element is pressed against the outer electrode by the spring clip. The trigger mechanism has the advantage that it reacts very quickly and thereby reduces the formation of sparks and the fire hazard as well.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a wide input voltage range surge suppressor. It includes a series circuit for attachment to an upstream AC power input, and to a downstream load. There is a nonlinear low pass L-C filter having an inductor (and in some preferred embodiments, a low Q linear inductor) and a diode bridge, wherein the diode bridge includes at least one large value capacitor. There are two or three electrolytic capacitors of the nonlinear low pass L-C filter diode bridge in preferred embodiments. There is also a two section high pass filter connected to the electrolytic capacitor. This two section high pass filter has at least two diversely rated capacitors and at least three diversely rated resistors. A voltage offset diode is connected to the two section high pass filter and at least one electronic switch is connected to the voltage offset diode, with at least one capacitor connected to the electronic switch. The electronic switch is preferably a silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) switch. In some preferred embodiments of the present invention, wide input voltage range surge suppressor there is at least one capacitor connected to the electronic switch and it is at least one electrolytic capacitor of the nonlinear low pass L-C filter diode bridge. In addition to the foregoing, the present invention wide input voltage range surge suppressor electronic switch includes at least one series resistor for current drive balance assurance.

The exposed section of the wire being a depth from an outside face of the front of the non-conductive body, whereby the depth is enough to prevent passing of electrical current, yet close enough to allow the probe to be activated when electrical current is present in the wire.

摘要: The component with fault arc protection has an insulator in the form of a pillar, a first electrical conductor system which is provided on the insulator head and can be connected to high-voltage potential, and a second electrical conductor system which is provided on the insulator foot and can be connected to a ground potential. Each of the two electrical conductor systems contains an arcing electrode (7) for dissipating any fault arc which occurs in the event of a discharge between the two electrical conductor systems. The fault arc is dissipated particularly effectively if at least one of the two arcing electrodes (7) is in the form of a cup and has a cup base (12), which is attached to one electrical connection of the first or of the second electrical conductor system, as well as a cup wall (13) which is adjacent to the cup base (12) and extends predominantly in the direction of the axis (2) of the pillar. In this case, at least two material recesses are formed, which extend from the cup base (12) to the cup rim (9, 10) and are predominantly in the circumferential direction in the cup wall (13).

摘要: A three-electrode-discharge surge arrester has two opposing discharging parts of a pair of line electrodes, defining a gap therebetween, and a ground electrode disposed between the two discharging parts and provided with a penetration hole in the center. Each of the two discharging parts has a substantially conical shape. In accordance with this substantially conical shape, each of inner surfaces of upper and lower parts of the penetration hole of the ground electrode is substantially funnel-shaped. Hence, oblique parallel gaps for a primary discharge are formed between the substantially funnel-shaped inner surfaces of the upper and lower parts of the penetration hole and the two substantially conical discharging parts. Also, parallel gaps for a secondary discharge are formed between peripheral parts of the ground electrode around the penetration hole and peripheral parts of the line electrodes. Each of the oblique parallel gaps is formed narrower than each of the parallel gaps.
