Abstract:
Systems and methods for measuring feet and designing and creating orthopedic inserts are described. The method can include measuring a pressure the foot exerts during a stride at a plurality of points over a period of time, analyzing a pressure at the plurality of points over the period of time and designing the orthopedic insert based on the analysis. The system can include a device that measures a pressure exerted by a foot at a plurality of times at each of a plurality of points and a computer connected to the device, the computer having memory that stores the measured pressures and a program operable to analyze the measured pressures to create a design of an orthopedic insert.
Abstract:
A computer system, preferably in the form of a craft kit, is provided for converting a picture composed of color regions distributed throughout the picture into a line drawing in which each of these regions can be delineated to define a zone. The zone can have a symbol which identifies the color. The system includes a computer whose video display terminal is coupled to a printer to print out the displayed image. A digital image is fed into the computer and the image processed to produce the line drawing which is displayed on the terminal and transferred by the printer to a sheet. The digital image on the sheet is then transferred to a material, such as a T-shirt, for example by a stencil prepared from the printed sheet.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for improving an individual through a program of improvement courses are disclosed. The method of the present invention includes completing an initial assessment on a computer system prior to the individual starting the program of improvement courses and storing the completed initial assessment in a memory on the computer system and then taking the program of improvement courses. These courses are varied and combine traditional and non-traditional courses as well as eastern and western philosophies. Then one or more current assessments are computed on the computer system while taking the program of improvement courses and then stored in the memory. Once the courses are completed, one or more follow-up assessments are completed on the computer, and the results are stored in the memory. Composite scores are determined from the assessments and displayed to determine progress.
Abstract:
A new surgical device, system and methodology are disclosed. The surgical system includes a tube, a tip, a vacuum generator, a processing circuit and an interface. The processor determines how much vacuum should be applied through a tube and tip being used to achieve the desired holding power on a body part, such as an organ, without risking ripping of the body part. The calculation performed by the processor can be based on a number of parameters that can be entered through the interface. The parameters include the type of surgery, the body part being operated on, the strength of the body part, the viscosity of the body part, the particular tube being used including the diameter of the opening in the tube and the particular tip being used including the diameter of the opening in the tip. Another parameter is the age of the patient.
Abstract:
A method of applying acupressure to a person, comprises determining at least one specific area on an article of clothing that, when worn by said person, covers a specific known acupoint on the body, and securing pellet in place on said one specific area with an adhesive tape. The wearer can perform acupressure on him or herself by pressing on the pellet, which applies pressure to the specific acupoint.
Abstract:
A phonics training system provides immediate, audible and virtual answers to questions regarding various images such as objects, animals and people, posed by a user when the user views such images on a video display terminal of the system. The system can provide virtual answers to questions without the need for an instruction or teacher and includes a computer having a video output terminal and an electronic library containing common answers to basic questions. This system can also include an artificial intelligence system.
Abstract:
A method for eliminating airborne microorganisms in an air duct comprises placing a device containing at least one light emitting diode (LED) in the air duct so that the air flow passes through the beam emitted by the LED.
Abstract:
A therapeutic article of clothing is provided which is useful for the therapeutic application of pressure at certain pressure points throughout the human body. The clothing contains regions or pouches containing pellets at strategic locations which, when worn, aligns and centers the pouch over the pressure points where upon pin-point pressure can then be applied to the body by pressing on the pellet.
Abstract:
A package containing a humanoid or animal-like figure or other shaped object whose body is formed of open-cell, flexible-foam plastic material which when compressed then expels air therefrom to cause the body to shrink so that it can be stuffed into a small container. When the body is removed from the container it then inhales air to assume its normal full scale form. To enhance the shrinkability of the body so that it can be stuffed into a smaller container, dispersed throughout the flexible-foam body are air pockets that are much larger than the open cells.
Abstract:
A technique for applying to raisins a fat-free coating which not only enhances their nutritional value but also renders the raisins more palatable. In this technique raisins to be coated are deposited in a spinnable panning pot containing the hot liquid and dry ingredients which compose the coating. The pot is then spun until the liquid cools and hardens and there is then formed on the surfaces of the raisins a thin and brittle candy coating which when the raisins are masticated is crunched into small particles, the particles being intermingled with the flesh of the raisins to impart a crunchy sensation to the eating experience.
