In one embodiment, the frustoconical interior portion extends substantially from the inlet to the outlet and converges in that direction. In another embodiment, the generally frustoconical portion extends from a generally cylindrical interior portion, that is intermediate the inlet and the frustoconical interior portion, to the outlet and converges in that direction.

摘要： An apparatus to apply seasoning to a foodstuff comprising a plurality of individual food portions comprises a rotatable drum supportable in a generally horizontal position and having an inlet at a first end, an outlet at a second end and a bore extending through the drum from the inlet to the outlet, with a substantial portion of the bore having a generally frustoconical interior with a larger diameter end of the frustoconical interior disposed proximal to the inlet and a smaller diameter end of the frustoconical interior portion disposed proximal to the outlet. In one embodiment, the frustoconical interior portion extends substantially from the inlet to the outlet and converges in that direction. A bottom coating mass forming element (16) is designed as a separate element in addition to the detaching element (15). The element (16) is arranged below the grid belt (3) in a way that it redirects and deforms the bottom coating mass such that a part thereof moves through the grid belt (3) in an upward direction to form an upper part of the bottom coating mass (22). The element (16) has a forming surface (17) for contacting the coating mass in a way to determine the cross-sectional profile (23) of the upper part of the bottom coating mass (22). The element (16) is replaceable and/or adjustable with respect to the detaching element (15) to determine the cross-sectional profile (23) of the upper part of the bottom coating mass (22).

Said method comprises the following steps: a) a covering, which comprises an opening, is produced; b) a filling is added to the covering via an opening; and c) a cover is applied to the opening in order to close the filled covering. The filling is added according to step b) and the cover is applied according to step c) which takes place simultaneously in one step. Means for adding the filling and means for applying the cover can be displaced together and at a constant distance according to the inventive system.

摘要： Product to be supplied in an ordered manner is supplied to the upstream end of an apparatus according to the invention, the bottom of which is substantially closed by a base plate that leaves only the extreme, downstream end of the apparatus open. The apparatus includes a belt-like structure composed of plates that are alternatingly apertured and non-apertured. Transverse partitions define compartments for receiving product at the upstream portion of the apparatus, the bottom portions of the compartments being bounded by the lower portion of the belt structure which, in turn, moves across the base plate. Product falls into the apertures in the apertured plates by means of gravity and pressure exerted by flexible lips located at the lower edges of the transverse partitions. The configuration ensures complete filling of the apertures in the apertured plates.

摘要： An apparatus for controlling the loading and feeding of tablets onto carrier plates for transfer to various processing stations of a coating system includes a novel plate indexing apparatus having a box cam follower device mounted to an engagement bar for incrementally advancing the plates in a precisely controlled manner. A second complementary shaped engagement bar provides a locking mechanism to ensure the plates are always under positive control. In one embodiment the plate indexing apparatus also controls the feeding of the tablets. An alternative embodiment includes a vacuum pick-up system for feeding tablets onto the carrier plates as the plates are incrementally advanced.
