    Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for generating contextually relevant messages are provided. In some embodiments, a method for generating contextually relevant messages is provided, the method comprising: requesting content from a content source; receiving a content item; causing the content item to be presented using a display device; causing an endorsement indication corresponding to an endorsing user to be concurrently presented with the content item, wherein a user associated with the request for content and the endorsing user are social connections; receiving user input selecting the endorsement indication; causing a temporary messaging interface including a temporary message from the user to the endorsing user to be presented; causing a permanent message to be created based on the temporary message and received user input; and causing the permanent message to be presented to the endorsing user.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for presenting interactive elements within video content are provided. In some embodiments, the method comprises: causing immersive video content to be presented on a user device, wherein the immersive video content includes at least a first view and a second view, and wherein the first view includes a first interactive element to be presented within the first view and the second view includes a second interactive element to be presented within the second view; receiving an indication that the first view of the immersive video content is to be presented; in response to receiving the indication, causing the first view of the immersive video content to be presented on the user device; determining that the first interactive element has been presented within the first view of the immersive video content; in response to determining that the first interactive element has been presented, identifying a content creator associated with the first interactive element; and assigning attribution information that indicates the presentation of the first interactive element to the content creator associated with the first interactive element.

    Abstract: Systems and methods of implementing a finite-state machine using electronic notifications delivered to a client device in a computer networking environment are provided. A content item can be received, along with first and second notifications associated with the content item. The first and second notifications can be stored in a queue. In some implementations, a state machine can be maintained in which at least some states may cause the first or second notifications to be displayed, and in which transitional conditions between states may depend at least in part on user interaction with the displayed notifications.

    Abstract: Described herein is a method for managing media item playback. A method includes presenting a media player in a first portion of a user interface (UI) provided by a first application on a screen of a user device, the media player to provide playback of a first media item from a first post of a plurality of posts of the first application. The method also includes relocating the media player to a second portion of the UI while continuing to provide playback of the first media item by the relocated media player, and receiving a user gesture to scroll through the plurality of posts of the first application on the screen of the user device, the plurality of posts comprising a second post having a second media item. The method further includes upon receiving the user gesture to scroll through the plurality of posts of the first application, allowing a user to view the second media item in the second post while continuing to provide playback of the first media item by the relocated media player, receiving a user request to perform an activity that is enabled by a second application and is independent of the viewing of the first media item or the second media item, and continuing to provide playback of the first media item in the relocated media player while content associated with the requested activity is being presented to the user on the screen of the user device.
