Abstract: A broadcast signal receiver is disclosed. A broadcast signal receiver according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises a synchronization & demodulation module performing signal detection and OFDM demodulation on a received broadcast signal; a frame parsing & deinterleaving module performing parsing and deinterleaving of a signal frame of the broadcast signal; a demapping & decoding module performing conversion of data of at least one Physical Layer Pipe (PLP) of the broadcast signal into the bit domain and FEC decoding of the converted PLP data; and an output processing module outputting a data stream by receiving the at least one PLP data.

Abstract: A broadcast receiver includes a tuner configured to receive a broadcast signal; a frequency deinterleaver configured to frequency deinterleave data in the broadcast signal based on an address generator; a time deinterleaver configured to time deinterleave a Time Interleaving (TI) block including the frequency deinterleaved data, the TI block including one or more Forward Error Correction (FEC) blocks interleaved by a TI scheme, the TI scheme including linear-writing one or more FEC blocks in a memory and diagonal-reading the one or more FEC block based on the TI block by skipping one or more virtual FEC blocks that are ahead of the one or more FEC blocks in the TI block; a decoder configured to decode the broadcast signal, the decoded broadcast signal including a signal frame including: one or more components included in a content of a service and content information describing the content, the content information including component information including role information for at least one of an audio component, a video component or a closed caption component of the one or more components, the role information for the audio component including visually impaired, and first information for rapid channel scans and service acquisition and second information describing mappings between Data Pipes (DPs) and the service and information identifying a DP for the second information; and a display configured to display information related to the content based on the role information of the one or more components of the content in the decoded broadcast signal.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method of transmitting broadcast signals. The method includes, processing input streams into BB (Base Band) frames of PLPs (Physical Layer Pipes), wherein the input streams include a plurality of input packets, wherein each of the input packets include a packet header including information about synchronization of the input streams, wherein the processing input streams into BB frames further includes compressing the packet headers of the input packets in the input streams, generating the BB frames by using the compressed input packets; encoding data of the PLPs; building at least one signal frame by mapping the encoded data of the PLPs; and modulating data in the built signal frame by OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) method and transmitting the broadcast signals having the modulated data.
