Abstract: The device type of a user computing device may be used to optimize network communication sessions. In one implementation, an indication of the device type of the user computing device may be received and a communication profile for the user computing device may be determined. The communication profile may be associated with values for a number of parameters relating to one or more communication protocols used to implement communication sessions with the user computing device. One or more network elements, that are involved in the communication sessions with the user computing device, may be provisioned, to cause the one or more network elements to implement the communication protocols, for the user computing device, using the values for the parameters relating to the one or more communication protocols.

Abstract: Techniques described herein may enable a wireless telecommunications network to implement different types of core networks, and enable end devices—user equipment (UEs) such as broadband devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets) and Internet of Things (IoT)/Machine Type Communication (MTC) devices (sometimes referred to herein as Machine-to-Machine (M2M) devices)—to connect to whichever core network is most suitable to the capabilities of the UE. For example, a broadband core network may provide UEs with broadband connectivity for media sessions (e.g., telephone calls, video calls, etc.) and broadband Internet access. An M2M core network may provide UEs with network connectivity consistent with the lower resource usage patterns typical M2M devices. Additionally, a UE connected to a first core network (e.g., an M2M core network) may detect a prompt to connect to a second core network (e.g., a broadband core network), and in response, may dynamically switch to the second core network.

Abstract: A server device may receive content that was transmitted using a broadcast technique; track a quantity of user devices that have entered a particular area after the content has been received by the server device; determine, based on the tracking, that the quantity of user devices meets or exceeds a threshold quantity; and redistributing, by the server device and based on the determining, the content to one or more of the user devices that have entered the particular area after the content has been received by the server device.

Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium provide to store packet data network (PDN) connection data pertaining to a user equipment connected to a network; store locale-to-packet data network gateway (PGW) data, wherein the locale-to-PGW data includes mappings between locales and PGWs to be used when the user equipment is located in the locales; receive a locale update pertaining to the user equipment; query the locale-to-PGW data in response to the locale update; determine, based on a result of the query, whether the user equipment is to be re-anchored to a different PGW than a PGW to which the user equipment is currently anchored; invoke a re-anchoring procedure, in response to a determination that the user equipment is to be re-anchored to the different PGW; and omit to invoke the re-anchoring procedure, in response to a determination that the user equipment is not to be re-anchored.

Abstract: A selective call blocking function (SCBF) device, included in an internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS), processes a request to establish an IP call on an LTE network, such as a voice over long term evolution (VoLTE) call. The SCBF device identifies a user equipment (UE) associated with the IP call and an associated eNode B (eNB). For example, the SCBF may access a subscriber location memory to determine a location of the UE and an eNB associated with the location. The SCBF determines whether the eNB supports the IP call, and permits the IP call to be established via the IMS when the eNB supports the IP call. When the eNB does not support the IP call, the SCBF blocks the IP call and initiates a non-IP call, such as a 1× call, to the UE to prevent communications interruptions.

Abstract: One or more devices are provided that receive a request, from a client device, to connect to an operator network. The request is received at a request time. The one or more devices obtain information identifying a connect time at which the client device is permitted to connect to the operator network and determine whether the request time matches the connect time. If the request time is determined to be different than the connect time, the one or more devices reject the request to connect to the operator network based on the request time being determined to be different than the connect time. If the request time is determined to match the connect time, the one or more devices establish a communication session between the client device and the operator network based on the request time being determined to match the connect time.

Abstract: A device may receive network congestion information relating to one or more connections. The network congestion information may identify respective utilizations of the one or more connections. The one or more connections may be associated with one or more access points. The device may cause the network congestion information to be provided to a set of user equipments (UEs) via a multicast transmission to cause one or more UEs, of the set of UEs, to switch from a first connection, of the one or more connections, to a second connection, of the one or more connections, based on the network congestion information. The one or more UEs may be connected to a network via a multicast connection.
