Abstract: An improved lawful intercept (LI) infrastructure is described. In response to a valid LI provisioning request, a subscriber management component statically allocates a user equipment (UE) subject to the LI provisioning request to an edge location comprising a high-speed gateway and a Mediation and Delivery Function (MDF), which coordinates the delivery of intercepted communications. The subscriber management component maintains this allocation for the life of the LI provisioning request and reverses the UE to a dynamic gateway allocation scheme when the LI provisioning request ends. As a result, only a subset of edge locations must be equipped with MDFs, and the handover is transparent to the UE.

The network congestion information may identify respective utilizations of the one or more connections. The one or more connections may be associated with one or more access points. The device may cause the network congestion information to be provided to a set of user equipments (UEs) via a multicast transmission to cause one or more UEs, of the set of UEs, to switch from a first connection, of the one or more connections, to a second connection, of the one or more connections, based on the network congestion information. The one or more UEs may be connected to a network via a multicast connection.

Abstract: A base station may allocate resources of an unlicensed radio frequency (RF) spectrum band among multiple operator networks, associated with different network operators, that use different licensed RF spectrum bands. The base station may receive downlink traffic destined for a user equipment. The base station may identify an operator network, of the multiple operator networks, associated with the user equipment. The base station may provide the downlink traffic to the user equipment using one or more unlicensed RF channels of the unlicensed RF spectrum band based on identifying the operator network and based on allocating the resources of the unlicensed RF spectrum band among the multiple operator networks.

Abstract: A small cell device may communicate with a user device (e.g., a smartphone, a tablet computer, etc.) via a range extender device that extends the effective range of the small cell device to the user device. The small cell device, the range extender device, and the user device may communicate with one another using channels of a licensed spectrum (e.g., traditional LTE channels). The range extender device may determine channel conditions corresponding to an unlicensed spectrum (e.g., 5 Gigahertz (GHz) Spectrum) and communicate the channel conditions to the small cell device. Based on the channel conditions, the small cell device and the range extender device may select downlink-only channels of the unlicensed spectrum and cause the downlink capabilities of the channels of the unlicensed spectrum to be augmented by the downlink capabilities of the downlink-only channels of the unlicensed spectrum.

The inter-networked lawful intercept service may include providing lawful intercept information from a proxy call session control function to a future generation core network device. The proxy call session control function may be resident in an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem network. The proxy call session control function may use a Diameter message that includes the lawful intercept information. The future generation core network device may be a policy control function. The lawful intercept information may be further provided to other core network devices, such as a session management function and a use plane function.

Abstract: A base station may obtain channel usage information identifying usage of one or more unlicensed radio frequency (RF) spectrum bands. The base station may select a selected band, of the one or more unlicensed RF spectrum bands, based on the channel usage information. The base station may select one or more RF channels, of multiple RF channels included in the selected band, based on a congestion value of the selected band. The congestion value may be determined based on values of the channel usage information corresponding to the selected band. The selected RF channel may include an impaired RF channel that may not permit full bandwidth utilization due to constraints. The base station may communicate with user equipment via the one or more RF channels of the selected band.
