    Abstract: A sliding door adapted to operate an entrance of a large-sized freezer or the like and capable of facilitating operation at the initial stage of opening of the door. Upward elastic force of elastic suspensions constantly acts on a door body, so that the door body may be suspended while being raised from a floor, when the door is kept at an open position. Also, when the entrance is kept closed with the door, a driving wheel strikes on a tapered section of a lower rail surface to cause a bottom packing of the door body to be pressed on the floor against upward elastic force of the suspensions. Thus, when sliding of the door body toward the open position is started, the driving wheel is moved on the tapered section and concurrently the bottom packing of the door body is raised from the floor, during which the door body is moved obliquely upward and obliquely outward due to arrangement of the bracket assemblies and the like at the same inclination angle; so that a peripheral packing of the door body may be smoothly separated from a periphery of the entrance. Thus, frictional resistance does not substantially occur during the door opening operation, so that the operation is facilitated.

    Abstract: A mechanical disk-type door closure wherein one end of the closure is connected to a door and the other end is pivotally connected to a door jam such that when the door pivots about its hinge. The closure includes a rod upon which a rack is formed to cause a pinion to rotate in one direction and which is in mesh with a gear so as to move the pinion out of contact with the rack. When the door closes, a spring moves the pinion into engagement with the rack and the pinion turns in a direction to rotate the gear which is subjected braking pressure so as to adjust the resistance to the closing motion of the door.

    Abstract: An anti-clamping device for a vehicle door driven in opening and closing movements by a turnable shaft in turn driven by a transmission rod. The anti-clamping device comprises a telescopic element interposed in the transmission rod and including first and second telescopically engaged parts having retracted and extended positions. A control member is mounted on one of the parts and can be in the form of a projecting pin while spaced switches are mounted on the other of the parts. The pin projects between the switches to operate a selected one thereof depending on whether the parts are telescopically retracted or extended to reverse the direction of door movement. Thereby when an obstacle is present in the path of travel of the door, stress in the transmission rod will be accompanied by telescopic retraction or extension of the parts depending upon whether the door is in its opening or closing movement which produces closure of one of the switches to reverse the direction of door movement.

    Abstract: A door operator of electromechanical character for utilization with swing-mounted doors is provided in a self-contained unit for mounting as a part of a door frame or for attachment to existing doors and frames. The opener has a door driving shaft mounted for rotation about a vertical axis and connectable to a door for closing and opening of the door when rotated, and a transmission interconnecting a prime mover and door driving shaft for rotation to open the door upon selective delivery of power by the prime mover. A pinion interconnected with the shaft meshes with a rack gear for shifting of the rack gear about a longitudinal axis in response to rotation of the shaft. The unit includes a module of interchangeable character having a preloaded spring and configured for the intended direction(s) of rotation of the door for opening. The spring receives energy from the rack gear upon door opening and then transfers the stored energy to the rack gear upon cessation of delivery of power by the prime mover for producing rotation of the shaft in the opposite direction to close the door while returning power to the prime mover, which is preferably an electronically driven and controlled d.c. motor. The rack gear and spring module permit rotation of the shaft also in a direction for emergency opening of the door.
