Abstract:
A system and method of detecting and thwarting the use of unauthorized imaging systems at theatrical performances. Sensors are deployed at a theatrical event to detect the IR focusing signal and/or the RF signal of an unauthorized imaging device. De-focusing signals are used to disrupt the auto focus system of imaging devices that do not use IR focusing systems. A thwarting signal comprising invisible light frequencies may be combined to produce a thwarting signal that is received by the CCD of an imaging device as white light thereby rendering the recorded image unusable.
Abstract:
The present invention provides for a method and system for measuring data quality of service in a wireless network using multiple peripatetic (i.e. mobile) and/or stationary, unattended, position, and performance instruments (PUPPIs) that are remotely controlled by a back end processor. In some embodiments of the invention, the data service whose quality is measured relates to wireless Internet access, e-commerce transactions, wireless messaging, or push technologies. In other embodiments of the invention, the system includes an element that is located within the wireless network infrastructure, for example, at the WAP gateway to monitor the wireless data protocol and to perform benchmarking measurements.
Abstract:
A system and method for monitoring patient variables in a wireless manner via a patient worn monitoring device is disclosed. The patient monitoring device is wearable and connects to a variety of sensors with at least one microphone for voice communications. The device connects to a wireless network and thence to the Internet for transmitting data to a Host for access by a medical care provider. The medical care provider communicates with the patient-wearable device via the Internet and the wireless network to send instructions to the patient-wearable monitoring unit and to communicate via voice with the patient. The medical care provider can also flexibly reconfigure the device to change collection parameters. When an alarm limit is exceeded as detected by the sensors, the data are transmitted to the Host computer for use by the medical care provider, thereby allowing full mobility to the patient wearing the device.
Abstract:
Measuring the required distance necessary for a first down in the sport of football. The apparatus includes a ten yard marker pole with an attached laser apparatus. The laser apparatus emits light in the blue-green wavelength and is capable of emitting laser beam across the entire width of the field onto a target, to aid an official in determining if a first down has occurred or not.
Abstract:
The field of view of a sensor mounted on a satellite (or other spacecraft) is obscured by various objects, such as celestial bodies and the satellite's own solar panels. A method is disclosed for visualizing and quantifying, with respect to time, variations in the portions of the sensor's field of view that are obscured. The graphical output of a satellite systems analysis program, which features high-resolution, three-dimensional, animated images of spacecraft, celestial bodies and other objects in the space environment, is utilized. The graphical output is simplified to only a few colors to differentiate only background and irrelevant objects from relevant objects. Differentiation is also made, using different colors, in representation of those portions of the field of view that overlap relevant (obscuring) objects from the remainder of the field of view which is unobscured. By counting pixels of the respective colors, frame-by-frame during animation, the percentage of obscuration over time is quantified.
Abstract:
A system and method for issuing an alarm when the separation distance between a monitoring module associated with an object (animate or inanimate) and an alert module exceeds a preset threshold distance thereby forming a leadless electronic tether between the object and the object owner. A monitoring module comprises a portable transmitter provides a signal to an alert module comprising a receiver and a processor. The alert module is adapted to determine a separation distance between the monitoring module and the alert module based on an attribute of the signal. When the separation distance exceeds a predetermined threshold, the alert module issues an alert.
Abstract:
A system for management of an integrated communications provider comprising a means of automatically retrieving customer service records and preparing sales proposals therefrom. The invention further comprises components for pre-ordering management functions, circuit management, design management, service management, and gateway to incumbent local exchange carriers and trading partners. The system incorporates features that automate comparisons between existing services and proposal services, alarming of failures of confirmations, optimizing on-net and off-net services, creation of cutover reports and issuance of service requests to local exchange carriers and trading partners.
Abstract:
A quick release steering wheel system and method involves use of a billet hub adapter that has tapped holes for attachment of an OEM steering wheel that uses a non-standard bolt-pattern. The billet hub adapter includes an upper recess to provide space for the center cap of the OEM steering wheel and a lower recess for use of a commonly available, preferably pinless, quick release mechanism that is attached to the billet hub adapter via counter-sunk through-holes in the adapter. The adapter can be used to prevent theft of exotic automobiles as well as their exotic steering wheels. It can also be used to adapt the automobiles for use in racing environments that require quick release steering wheels for safety reasons, yet maintain a visually pleasing appearance when the OEM wheel is attached.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for preparing flexible thermoplastic compositions that may be used separately or combined with up to fifty percent thermoplastic scrap. One embodiment of the invention comprises creating a melt-blend of blending composition, up to 50% by weight thermoplastic scrap and up to 15% by weight poly(ethyl-co-vinyl) acetate wherein the blending composition comprises an impact polypropylene, impact modifier and plasticizer. The polypropylene, impact modifier and plasticizer are selected to meet requirements of flexible thermoplastic compositions useful in vehicle interiors. In another embodiment of the invention a random polypropylene is used.
Abstract:
System and method for accelerating the convergence rate of turbo decoding by verifying bits in data frames whose CRC shows no bit errors. Verified bits are translated to bound nodes on a trellis of nodes representing a sequence of bits of the encoded code block. Verification of all bits signals a stop condition and decoding iterations can be terminated. Further, state transition metrics are limited when a node is adjacent to a bound node, allowing for acceleration of convergence by elimination of impossible state transitions. Also disclosed is a scheme to detect bit errors when the code block contains unframed data or partial data frames. This bit error detection scheme uses a recursive encoder to establish end node status. The end node state determination accelerates convergence rate recognition when incorporated with other stop conditions.
