摘要： An electrostatically driven high-speed micro droplet switch includes a substrate having an upper surface containing one or more signal electrodes that are selectively connected via a droplet. The switch includes at least one actuation electrode disposed beneath the upper surface of the substrate, the at least one actuation electrode operatively coupled to drive circuitry. The switch includes a frame disposed on or above the upper surface of the substrate that is configured to hold the droplet in substantially the same location during operation of the switch. In one aspect, the frame is configured to absorb variations in the volume of the droplet placed on the switch, leaving the active meniscus not affected by the variation in volume.

摘要： Method and apparatus for interactively checking an error of a video cassette tape recorder. Whether or not a service mode is selected by a first remote controller input is checked. A menu picture is displayed on a television screen if the service mode is selected. Whether or not an error check mode in the menu picture is selected by a second remote controller input is checked, and then an error check mode picture is displayed on the television screen if the error check mode is selected. A first check operation is performed about a reproducing system and a first check result is stored into a memory, and an insertion request picture which requests an insertion of a test video cassette is displayed on the television screen when the first check operation is finished. A second check operation is performed about the reproducing system while a reproducing is going on after the test video cassette is inserted and a second check result is stored into the memory. Each operation mode is sequentially performed after the second check operation is finished, and then a third check operation is performed about the reproducing system and then a third result is stored into the memory. The first, second and third check results stored in the memory are displayed on the television screen after the third check operation is finished.

摘要： A device for generating droplets includes a substrate comprising a reservoir site configured to hold a liquid and including a first electrode, a droplet creation site including a second electrode, and droplet separation site disposed between the reservoir site and the droplet creation site and containing an electrode. The device includes control circuitry operatively coupled to the first, second, and third electrodes. The control circuitry is configured to measure the fluid volume on the electrodes and independently adjust an applied voltage to increase/decrease the quantity of fluid. The device can move fluid onto the creation site or back onto to the reservoir site. When the fluid volume is at the desired value or range, a driving voltage is delivered to the first and second electrodes to form a new droplet. The device may generate droplets having a uniform or user-defined size smaller than the electrode.

摘要： A printhead device for transferring liquid droplets from a nozzle includes a liquid source coupled to a nozzle via a microchannel. The nozzle is formed from an orifice having an inner circumferential surface, wherein at least a portion of the inner circumferential surface is serrated. Liquid droplets are transported from the source to the nozzle using a liquid droplet driver (e.g., employing a plurality of driving electrodes). Transfer of droplets to another surface can be accomplished by contacting a bulging droplet in the nozzle with a printing surface. The surface and/or nozzle are then moved relative to one another to effectuate complete transfer of the liquid drop from the nozzle.
