Abstract:
A detachable connection between a projectile and a propellantcharge case for cartridge-encased ammunition adapted to be fired from a gun barrel. The propellant-charge case is provided at the front end zone with at least one recess receiving a locking element radially displaceable between inner and outer end positions. The element in the outer end position projects outwardly of the propellant-charge case to an extent sufficient to prevent complete introduction of the propellant-charge case into the gun barrel and is supported in this position by a movable blocking member which is displaceable against the force of a spring toward the rear of the propellant-charge case. The projectile which is to be connected with the propellant-charge case is provided with a tail portion arranged for contacting the blocking member and to displace the blocking member toward the rear. The tail portion is also provided with a recess adapted to be engaged by the locking element upon displacement of the blocking member such that the locking element assumes the inner end position connecting the projectile and the propellant charge case and permitting introduction of the flush connection of the projectile and the propellant-charge case into the gun barrel for support therein.

Piezoelectric percussion fuze for projectiles wherein mechanical impact energy is converted, in a piezoelectric transducer, into an electric voltage for the detonation of a primer charge, characterized in that the piezoelectric transducer is connected to the primer charge via a semiconductor element exhibiting a threshold value breakdown characteristic.
Abstract:
An apparatus for the extrusion of hollow articles of thermoplastic synthetic resin includes an extruded tool and a sizing device adjacent the extruding tool where the hollow article is drawn therefrom. The sizing device has a minor conicity so that the outlet opening in the sizing device is smaller than the inlet opening so that the shrinkage of the dimensions of the article is compensated for. A cooling device may be inserted within a hollow chamber of the article and in addition be externally coupled to the surface of the extruded article as it is drawn through the sizing device.
Abstract:
THE PROCESS FOR PRODUCING AN ALKALI METAL ALUMINUM ALKOXIDE OF THE FORMULA MAL(OR)4 WHEREIN M IS AN ALKALI METAL AND R IS SELECTED FROM THE GROUP CONSISTING OF ALKYL CONTAINING IN EXCESS OF THREE CARBON ATOMS, CYCLOALKYL AND ARALKYL, WHICH COMPRISES BOILING A MEMBER SELECTED FROM THE GROUP CONSISTING OF AN EXCESS OF AN ALCOHOL OF THE FORMULA ROH AND A MIXTURE OF AT LEAST ONE ORGANIC SOLVENT INDIFFERENT IN RELATION TO THE OTHER REACTANTS AND AN EXCESS OF AN ALCOHOL OF THE FORMULA ROH WITH A MEMBER SELECTED FROM THE GROUP CONSISTING OF (A) A MIXTURE OF AN ALKALIMETAL HYDROXIDE AND ALUMINUM TRIHYDROXIDE, (B) A MIXTURE OF AN ALKALI METAL ALKOXIDE AND ALUMINUM TRIHYDROXIDE AND (C) AN ALKALI METAL ALUMINATE, AND REMOVING WATER FORMED IN THE REACTION. THE WATER IS PREFERABLY DISTILLED OFF FROM THE REACTION WITH EXCESS ALCOHOL, CONDENSED, THE WATER REMOVED FROM THE CONDENSATE BY LIME, SILICA GEL OR A ZEOLITE, AND THE WATER-FREE ALCOHOL IS RECYCLED TO THE REACTION UNTIL THE WATER CONTENT IN THE ALCOHOL DISTILLING OFF FALLS TO A VERY LOW LEVEL. ADVANTAGEOUSLY THE ALUMINUM IS USED IN SLIGHT EXCESS TO ENSURE THE PRODUCT IS FREE OF EXCESS ALKALI METAL ALKOXIDE.
Abstract:
An apparatus for forming socket and bead configurations in tubular bodies including a divided external mold, an expanding mandrel having two parts between which a sizing ring is provided. The sizing ring is rotatably mounted on a slide element supported in a rotatable guide member. By setting the guide member into rotation the sizing ring scribes a circular path about the central axis of the expanding mandrel. A radial-displacing cylinder is provided for shifting the slide element and thus sizing ring 3 in the radial direction. Also disclosed is the method resulting from the use of the above apparatus.
Abstract:
COMPLETELY ODORLESS ACETOGLYCERIDES, SOLID AT ROOM TEMPERATURE AND HAVING AN EXTRAORDINARY RESISTANCE TO HYDROLYSIS, ARE PREPARED BY ACETYLATING PARTIAL GLYCERIDES OF FATTY ACIDS HAVING 16 AND/OR 18 CARBON ATOMS, THE PARTIAL GLYCERIDES HAVING AN IODINE NUMBER OF BELOW 5 AND A MONOGLYCERIDE CONTENT OF MORE THAN 70% BY WEIGHT, TO A HYDROXYL NUMBER OF AT MOST 30, DISTILLING OFF THE ACETIC ACID AND EXCESS ACETIC ANHYDRIDE AS COMPLETELY AS POSSIBLE, AND DEODORIZING THE REACTION MIXTURE AT A TEMPERATURE OF GREATER THAN 170C. UNDER A VACUUM, WITH AN INERT GAS OR VAPOR BEING PASSED THERETHROUGH.

IN METALLIZING OF PLASTICS, THE PLASTIC ARTICLES ARE SENSITIZED WITH AN ACID SOLUTION OF A TRIVALENT METAL OF THE 5TH MAIN GROUP OF THE PERIODIC TABLE, E.G. ARSENIC, AND ARE THEREAFTER SUBJECTED TO AN ELECTROLYTIC METALLIZING STEP.
Abstract:
A pneumatic pump device for the removal of water from holes inlcuding an inflatable cylindrical hollow body of an elastic material sealed off on both ends by sealing elements. A flexible riser is arranged to extend in the axial direction through the hollow body and in sealing contact through both of the sealing elements. First and second bores are provided, one in each of the sealing elements for permitting the entry and egress of a gas to and from the hollow body. In one of these bores a valve is installed which is controlled by the internal pressure of the hollow body.
Abstract:
A process for the production of sheeting from chips of a thermoplastic material includes the steps of forming a granulated thermoplastic synthetic polymeric material transversely and longitudinally into a crude sheet, cutting the crude sheet into transverse strips, and cutting the transverse strips longitudinally into chips having approximately rectangular configurations. Thereafter the process further includes stacking the chips in a uniform distribution in a thin layer, heating the stacked chips to sinter the layer of stacked chips into a sheet, winding the sheet into a round multilayered block, radially compressing the multilayered block, cooling the compressed block and peripherally paring the compressed block into sheeting.
