Abstract:
A system in the form of an aqueous dispersion or granules containing at least one liquid, waxy or pasty non-ionic surfactant and an alkali metal silicate. The system is prepared using a concentrated aqueous alkali metal silicate solution as the continuous liquid phase optionally containing glycerol, in which is dispersed at least one liquid, pasty or waxy non-ionic surfactant that is non-miscible or poorly compatible with said concentrated alkali metal silicate solution, and at least one non-ionic or anionic surfactant that is compatible with said concentrated alkali metal silicate solution and capable of causing the dispersion of said liquid, pasty or waxy non-ionic surfactant(s) in said concentrated alkali metal silicate solution. The resulting dispersion is optionally dried to produce a rigid alkali metal silicate shell encapsulating droplets or particles of the liquid, pasty or waxy non-ionic surfactant(s). The system may optionally further contain at least one other detergent builder and may be used as a component of a detergent composition, particularly for use in washing machines, or as the detergent composition itself.

Abstract:
Solid, free-flowing, essentially nonfriable powdery detergent particulates of recrystallized sodium tripolyphosphate hexahydrate having high absorption capacity and a pore volume of at least 0.70 cm.sup.3 /g, at lest 80% of the intercrystalline porosity thereof comprising pore sizes ranging from 0.5 .mu.m to 30 .mu.m, are prepared by (i) spraying water or an aqueous medium over a first fraction of anhydrous sodium tripolyphosphate, the majority of which fraction comprises phase 1 tripolyphosphate, (ii) spraying water or an aqueous medium over a separate second fraction of anhydrous sodium tripolyphosphate, which second fraction essentially consists of phase 2 triplyphosphate, (iii) intimately admixing said first and said second sprayed fractions, (iv) suspending the resulting admixture in water or an aqueous medium, and then (v) drying the resulting suspension, e.g., by atomization.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method for preparing thermoplastics to obtain a hydrophilic behaviour of the surface of objects made from said thermoplastics. The invention also concerns the additives used to obtain said surface hydrophily, said additives being mixed and jointly melted with the thermoplastics (mass-additivation process). The melted mixtures of thermoplastics and additives are shaped by any conventional means (extrusion, injection film stretching) to obtain the desired objects. The invention further concerns the uses of said thermoplastic objects with hydrophilized surfaces.
Abstract:
The present invention relates especially to a composition for manufacturing an article comprising one or more superposed layers each less than 5 centimetres thick, comprising a hydraulic binder and at least one compound chosen from an organic compound comprising at least two hydrophilic functions and a hydrophobic chain, and a polyamide oligomer. The use of these additives in the presence of hydraulic binder allows the manufacture of articles and coatings with good protection against water uptake, satisfactory water resistance and good mechanical properties such as breaking strength.
Abstract:
The invention concerns solid granulates of a system comprising at least a hydrophobic organic active substance (for example an active detergent substance) encapsulated in solid particles of an alkali-water soluble organic polymer derived by emulsion polymerisation, said particles being dispersed in and encapsulated by a matrix in a water soluble or water dispersible dry organic compound. The invention also concerns the use of said granulates in detergent compositions, in particular for cleaning hard surfaces or for washing clothes and the detergent compositions.
Abstract:
Laundry treatment compositions, especially detergent compositions or rinse conditioners, which deposit cellulosic polymers or related polysaccharide fabric rebuild agents onto textile fabrics are described. Such agents are used for laundering cellulosic fabrics such as cotton, to compensate for gradual loss of fibrous material on repeated washing. Preferred rebuild agents are cellulose monoacetate, cellulose hemisuccinate and other cellulose esters.
