    摘要: Particulate and coarse ammonium rare earth double oxalate crystals, readily converted into rare earth oxide particles by simple calcination, e.g., yttrium oxide particles, are prepared by (a) intimately admixing, in an aqueous medium, (i) at least one rare earth neutral oxalate with (ii) at least one precursor compound adapted to liberate ammonium ions in water and (iii) at least one precursor compound adapted to liberate oxalate ions in water, (b) separating the double oxalate precipitate thus formed, and (c), optionally, washing and drying such double oxalate precipitate.

    摘要: Novel rare earth oxides having a large specific surface of at least 40 m.sup.2 /g, well adapted for catalysis, are prepared (i) by reacting at least one rare earth salt with a strong base in the presence of carboxylate ions, or by reacting at least one rare earth carboxylate with a strong base, to produce a true rare earth hydroxide, (ii) separating the precipitate thus produced, and then (iii) washing and (iv) calcining such precipitate.

    摘要: Morphologically improved ceric oxide particulates having a grain size distribution such that the mean diameter of the aggregates thereof ranges from 0.2 to 1 .mu.m, are conveniently prepared by (i) hydrolyzing an aqueous solution of a cerium (IV) salt in an acid medium, (ii) adding an aqueous colloidal dispersion of a cerium (IV) compound to the product of step (i), (iii) separating the precipitate from step (ii), and then (IV) heat treating said separated precipitate, advantageously by calcination at elevated temperatures.

    摘要: Ceric oxide particulates having a specific surface of at least 190 m.sup.2 /g, measured after calcination at a temperature of from 350.degree. to 450.degree. C., and a specific surface of at least 15 m.sup.2 /g after calcination at 800.degree. C., are prepared by (a) suspending, in an aqueous solution of a decomposable base, a ceric hydroxide of the formula (I):Ce(M).sub.x (OH).sub.y (NO.sub.3).sub.z (I)wherein M is an alkali metal or a quaternary ammonium radical; x is a number ranging from 0.01 to 0.2; y is such that y=4-z+x; and z is a number ranging from 0.4 to 0.7; (b) heating the resulting suspension in a confined reaction zone to a temperature and pressure respectively lower than its critical temperature and pressure; (c) cooling such reaction medium and permitting it to return to atmospheric pressure; (d) separating the ceric hydroxide thus treated; and (e) calcining the separated ceric hydroxide.
