摘要： An apparatus for sampling and collecting wood samples for analysis purposes which includes a boring bit surrounded by a chamber into which the boring bit draws samples and from which the samples are passed to a collection container. The boring bit is housed in a pair of slidably connected housing members which determine the depth that the boring bit enters a wood sample. Collected samples are analyzed for microbial contaminates.

摘要： Embodiments of the invention are generally directed to a system and method for enrolling a user into an authentication system. In some embodiments of the invention, a user completes a first portion of the enrollment or setup process using a first computer environment, but is not permitted to complete the enrollment or setup process from the first computer environment. The system permits the user to complete the enrollment or setup process only from a second computer environment different from the first computer environment. In one embodiment, the second computer environment is any computer environment outside of the first computer environment.

摘要： A container for a combination moisture absorber and deodorizer is constructed from an upper half and a lower half that, when joined together, define an enclosed interior. The upper half has a plurality of openings that allow ambient air to pass from outside the container to the enclosed interior. A tray is seated above a collection surface on the lower half and is provided with a plurality of openings that allow moisture absorbed from the air to pass from the tray to the collection surface. A moisture absorbing medium that is preferably dissolvable is preferably provided on the tray for transforming moisture from the air into liquid that passes through the tray and collects on the collection surface. A deodorizing medium is also preferably provided on either the tray or the collection surface (or both) for adding a deodorizing effect.

摘要： The ability of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to distinguish between compounds and between parts of compounds is substantially increased by the use of certain rare earth chelate shift reagents. The preferred shift reagents are the europium III chelates of substituted or unsubstituted dicampholyl ligands, and europium III chelates of substituted or unsubstituted nopinato compounds. The reagents are particularly useful in determining the enantiomeric purity of compositions containing mixtures of enantiomers.
