The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for injection molding parts, which comprises a mixture of at least one plastic material and at least one additive in the form of fibrous or powdered fillers or reinforcement materials. The method comprises the following steps: a) plasticizing a mixture of the plastic material with the fillers or reinforcement materials, in a reciprocating screw plasticizing and injection unit, by rotating a plasticizing and injection screw, which is disposed in a preplasticizing cylinder so that it can move rotationally and axially; b) expelling the plasticized mixture of plastic material and filler or reinforcement material by the axial movement of the plasticizing and injection screw, from the reciprocating screw plasticizing and injection unit, into a mixing element; c) homogenizing the mixture of plastic material and filler or reinforcement materials in the mixing element, by a mixer, which is disposed movably in the mixing element and which is driven by a mechanical drive; and d) expelling the homogenized mixture of plastic material and filler or reinforcement materials from the mixing element into an injection molding tool. The combination of a reciprocating screw unit and a “dynamic mixer” achieves a gentle processing especially of long-fiber additives.

In order to make this method suitable especially for the reliable and reproducible production of large, foamed plastic molded parts, the invention is characterized in that the mixture of thermoplastic melt (1) and fluid (4) is injected into the cavity (8) of an injection molding tool (5) through the translational motion of the plasticizing and injection screw (2), the fluid (4) is introduced into the preplasticizing cylinder (3) at an axial position (6) where the screw channels (7) of the plasticizing and injection screw (2) are situated at least some of the time, and the pressure difference (delta p) between the pressure (PF) of the fluid (4) and the pressure (ps) in the thermoplastic melt (1) is maintained essentially constant while the fluid (4) is being introduced into the preplasticizing cylinder.

It is provided according to the invention that at least one surface projection (9) is provided in the mold (1), on the cavity wall (7), such that its upper plateau (10) runs extensively parallel to the cavity wall (7). The pressurized fluid is injected by means of at least one fluid injection element (6) in the region of upper plateau (10) of the surface projection (9), such that fluid blanket (8) forms between the plastic and upper plateau (10) of surface projection (9). Thus, the fluid blanket is controlled to be limited in its extent.

Then, with a time lag, more pressure medium (gas) at a higher or increased level of pressure is fed into the cavity and the molten plastic from the end of the flow path for the molten plastic and essentially counter to the direction of flow of the molten plastic, forming a second void (11) which joins with the already existing void (8).

The invention relates to a method for fabricating hollow plastic objects of thermoplastic material, having the following steps: a) injecting melt into the tool cavity (1, 2); b) Simultaneously and/or subsequently introducing a pressurized fluid into the melt, so that the melt which has been introduced into the molding tool (1, 2) is distributed in the cavity and is pressed against the walls of the molding tool (1, 2), the pressurized fluid being conducted from a pressurized container (5) into the melt, and the pressurized container (5) being supplied with fluid by a compressor (7) which contains a drive element (6); c) allowing the molded part (8) to cool; and d) relieving the cavity of the pressure of the pressurized fluid. According to the invention, the drive element (6) of the compressor (7) is maintained at a temporally constant power level (P) at least over the production of a large number of plastic objects. This power level is advantageously calculated from the ratio of the work (W) which must be done by the drive element (6) in order to furnish an amount of pressurized fluid that is needed for a certain number of plastic objects over an associated total cycle time (T), relative to this cycle time (T). As a result, the drive element (6) operates continuously, which results in favorable energy conditions and lower wear.

A method and an apparatus of injection molding articles of thermoplastic material. The method includes initially forcing molten plastics material into an injection mold in an amount sufficient for forming the article. Subsequently, a flowable medium is forced into the injection mold with a pressure which distributes the plastics material uniformly over the surface of the mold cavity of the injection mold so as to form a hollow body. The hollow body is then cooled while the pressure of the medium is maintained. Finaly, the pressure of the medium is released and the molded article is removed from the injection mold. The pressure of the medium in the mold cavity is controlled and/or varied at least temporarily until the plastics material has cooled. The apparatus for carrying out the method includes a pressure reservoir for the medium which is connectible to the injection mold through lines. The lines include control and/or regulating elements.

A pressurized fluid is exerted in the void in the direction of flow behind the projectile to move the projectile. To obtain constant wall thicknesses, the projectile has at least one elastic or plastic section, which is delimited by a space in which the pressurized fluid can enter. The volume of the space and the effective outer diameter of the projectile can be changed by the fluid pressure and is controlled in such a manner that the space and the effective outer diameter of the projectile is enlarged and/or reduced to make the moulded part with different diameters.
