    Abstract: The present invention relates to bioactive compositions (including, for example, bioactive serum fractions and bioactive extracts) derived from ginseng (Panax spp.) fresh whole plant, a particular part of the plant (e.g., rhizome, roots, leaves, stems, flowers, fruit) or any combination of these plant parts. The bioactive serum fractions and bioactive extracts are free of or substantially free of pulegone and/or free of or substantially free of proteins. The present invention also provides products comprising the bioactive serum fractions and/or bioactive extracts. The present invention further provides methods of making and using the bioactive serum fractions and/or bioactive extracts. Further, the bioactive serum fractions and bioactive extracts have anti-inflammatory and/or anti-irritant and/or anti-aging activities.

    Abstract: Optical imaging systems and methods are disclosed herein for investigating and analyzing one or more characteristics of a spray, including spray front velocity, spray sheet length, spray break-up dynamics, drift potential, and drop-size distribution. Optical imaging systems disclosed herein include an image acquisition device, one or more illumination source, a processor for processing and analyzing image data, a background, and a spray system that includes at least a nozzle. The image acquisition device and illumination sources are positioned on the same side of the spray. The processor has a first algorithm to generate a feedback correction factor and a second algorithm to identify droplets and develop a drop-size distribution for the spray. Optical imaging methods for determining spray characteristics are also disclosed and generally include the steps of providing an imaging system, capturing images of the spray with the imaging system, processing the images, and analyzing the images.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions comprising banyan tree, lotus, and clover serum fractions. A method of improving the appearance of a hyperpigmented spot may comprise the step of applying a composition comprising an effective amount of banyan tree serum fraction, lotus serum fraction, and clover serum fraction to a hyperpigmented spot on a skin surface, wherein the composition is applied for a period of time sufficient to improve the appearance of the hyperpigmented spot. The method may include the step of identifying a hyperpigmented spot on a facial skin surface. Other methods as disclosed include a method for improving the appearance of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are sprayable compositions comprising: a complex of (A) at least one charged (or pseudo-charged) polymer having a molecular weight of about 125,000 amu or more; and (B) a least one oppositely charged, rheology modifying, crosslinked polymer having at least one carboxylic functional group. The composition may provide a spray with a median particle size of less than about 175 μm. Also disclosed are methods for preparing the compositions as well as creating the spray.The invention enables the spray of the high molecular weight charged (or pseudo-charged) polymer in any number of uses including personal care and performance chemicals application.
