摘要: A method of braked pivot turning an aircraft, the aircraft comprising a fuselage and a landing gear assembly located to one side thereof. The landing gear comprises a bogie with wheels mounted thereon, at least one wheel being located on a first side of the bogie and at least one wheel being located on a second side of the bogie. The method includes the steps of applying thrust (7″) for moving or turning the aircraft, and via the braking of at least one wheel, applying a greater braking force to the first side of the bogie than to the second side. The first side is located closer to the centre of turning of the aircraft than the second side. The method thereby generates relatively low torque loads in the landing gear leg, reducing fatigue damage. A brake control system is also provided for selectively braking wheels during a turn.

摘要: A method of producing self-adhesive labels carried on a release backing material is described. This method provides a plurality of self-adhesive carrier labels across the width of a web of carrier substrate with at least one discrete label components, such as a leaflets, booklets, holograms and security devices, being applied to each respective carrier label. The invention provides a plurality of separate label component applicators across the width of the web, one for each respective label component to be applied. There is also provided a registration means to ensure registration of each label component with its respective carrier label. In this way the method provides for the manufacture of multi-layered combinations of individual labels to a base carrier using separate and specific component applicators for each label across the width of the web.

摘要: A label printing apparatus receives a cassette holding printing tape on which an image is to be printed. The apparatus also has a printing mechanism which includes a thermal printhead having a group of printing elements to which pixel data defining the image to be printed is passed sequentially on a group-by-group basis. The groups are printed adjacent one another in the direction of movement of the printing tape. A drive system is provided for driving the printing tape through the printing mechanism end includes a dc motor which is provided with a shaft encoder for monitoring the speed of rotation of the motor. Sequential printing of the groups of pixel data is controlled in dependence on the monitors speed of rotation of the motor. There is also described a label printing apparatus which uses monitoring of the speed of rotation of the motor to detect an end of tape condition.

摘要: A bedside cabinet comprises a body (10) carrying two drawers (12) and (14) all made from synthetic plastics material by rotational molding. The body (10) comprises a proximal wall (16) and a distal wall (18) each extending upward from a generally horizontal platform (20), and a horizontal top (22) extending between the proximal wall (16) and the distal wall (18). An upstand (28) carries a horizontal shelf (30) extending partly over the top (22) and both the top (22) and the shelf (30) are directed towards the proximal side of the cabinet, having raised lips (32) and (34) respectively around their distal edges and their ends. The cabinet lacks dirt traps and is easily cleaned. In addition the drawers (12) and (14) are reversible so as to open forwards whether the cabinet is on the right-hand side or the left-hand side of a bed.
