摘要： The apparatus forms a combined locating pin and gage for supporting and measuring two pieces of an assembly. The method for using the apparatus includes measuring an opening within each piece of the assembly using the limit gage portion of the apparatus and then locating the pieces together to form a temporary assembly using the gage as the shank of the locating pin portion of the apparatus. The apparatus includes a handle and a shank extending from the handle. In order to use the locating pin and gage apparatus, the mid-section of the shank forms a limit gage and has an outer diameter of a fixed dimension for measuring an opening within the two pieces of the assembly. If the diameter of each opening is within the predetermined limit set for the openings, then the handle of the apparatus is rotated in either direction, correspondingly rotating the lower locking section and causing the locking section to contact the lower piece, effectively temporarily and positively locking the assembly together.

摘要： A two-component foam-in-place structural material for producing a foamed product. The first component of the system includes an epoxy-based resin preferably formulated with a physical blowing agent particulate material. The physical blowing agent core is encapsulated within a shell or skin that will change state. The second component is an acid that is capable of initiating polymerization of the resin. A reactive mixture is achieved through the combination of the first and second components wherein heat from the exothermic reaction of the epoxy component caused by the acid in turn causes the thermoplastic shell having a solvent core to soften and increase in size due to gas pressure and change in state of the shell thereby foaming the reactive mixture.

Once the system is flexible fitted within the closed form or placed within a selected cavity of an automotive vehicle, the material expands and cures during an automobile assembly operation, bonding the reinforcement system to the segments. As a result, the reinforcement system provides enhanced load distribution over the vehicle frame without adding excessive weight and further serves to reduce noise and vibrational characteristics of the automotive vehicle.
