Abstract:
Methods, system and apparatus are provided for reducing power loss in an electric motor drive system that includes an electric machine and an inverter module. A controller determines whether a torque command (Tcmd) is less than a minimum torque threshold (Tmin) that is required to disable the inverter module, and if so, increments a counter and determines whether the torque command (Tcmd) remains less than the minimum torque threshold (Tmin). When the torque command (Tcmd) remains less than the minimum torque threshold (Tmin), the controller checks to determine whether a current count value (n) maintained at the counter is greater than a count threshold (nth), and if so, the controller can generate a disable signal to disable switching within the inverter module.
Abstract:
A system in a turbine engine for preventing wear on a tip shroud of a turbine blade that includes a pocket formed in a contact surface of the tip shroud and a plug that fits within the pocket and has a durable outer surface. The durable outer surface may include a cobalt-based hardfacing powder. The pocket may be machined out of the contact surface, and the plug may include a plug of predetermined size that fits snugly into the pocket. In some embodiments, the durable outer surface may substantially align with the contact surface after the plug is fitted into the pocket. In other embodiments, the durable outer surface may remain slightly raised from the contact surface after the plug has been fitted into the pocket.
Abstract:
Typically, a laser emits significant energy after a control signal is generated to disable the power supply. The inherent delay between generation of a control signal for shutting off a laser power supply and actual termination of an output beam pulse in response to the control signal, is compensated in the context that the control signal is generated automatically upon coincidence of measured output beam power with a preset threshold value. Power supplied to a laser is modulated to cause generation of a pulsed laser output beam. The cumulative energy of each output beam pulse is monitored and a feedback signal indicative of measured output beam pulse energy is supplied to the power supply. The feedback signal is compared with a user-selected threshold value, and a control signal is generated for terminating the output beam pulse (by terminating input power to the laser) when the measured output pulse energy reaches the threshold value. By generating the threshold signal to have a value representing a threshold output beam pulse energy that is lower than a desired output beam pulse energy, the threshold signal is generated in a manner which compensates for the inherent delay between generation of the control signal and the actual termination of the output beam pulse in response to the control signal. This prevents delivery of significant output beam energy in excess of a user-selected amount.
Abstract:
An adjustable seating assembly is disclosed having a base with a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a length extending from the first end to the second end. A frame assembly has a pair of support legs coupled to the base along the length. A seating-support surface is disposed above the base and coupled to the frame assembly. A chest-support surface is disposed above the base and coupled to the frame assembly and the chest-support surface is orientated at an acute angle with respect to the seating-support surface. The pair of the support legs are selectively translatable along the length of the base in a first direction and a second direction opposite the first direction so as to selectively rotate the chest-support surface and the seating-support surface simultaneously while maintaining the acute angle between the chest-support surface and the seating-support surface during the rotation.
Abstract:
A blending system includes a base, a housing connected to the base, and an ice bin positioned above the housing. A plurality of load cells may be positioned between the housing and the ice bin to monitor the weight of the ice bin. A drive play may be positioned above the base with a plurality of load cells disposed between the drive plate and base to monitor the weight of a container positioned on the drive plate.
Abstract:
A container cleaner includes a body having a fluid inlet, a fluid passage within the body, and a nozzle assembly. The nozzle assembly comprises a spray head, a plunger movable relative to a spray head, and a stopper having an opening to receive a portion of the plunger. The spray head may include a plurality of spray apertures formed in the spray head. The spray apertures are angled to direct fluid to portions of a container placed over the container cleaner.
Abstract:
A method of welding superalloy components comprising: (a) forming a weld prep groove at an interface of the components; (b) welding the components using a filler material at ambient temperature; (c) covering the filler material and adjacent surfaces of the components with a braze paste; and (d) heat treating the components, the heat treatment including a stress-relief cycle and a braze cycle. A similar process may be used to repair a crack in a nickel-based superalloy component.
Abstract:
A slit incision handpiece that receives a circular laser beam, reshapes the beam to have an elliptical cross-section, and focuses the beam onto target tissue. Slit incisions of approximately the dimensions of the elliptical beam are formed by stationary exposures on the target tissue from the output of the slit incision handpiece.
