    摘要: A developer supply device for supplying an image forming apparatus with a developer includes a developer accomodating container having an opening for supplying the developer, and a member for opening and closing the opening of the container. The developer accomodating container is slid to be positioned at a predetermined position. The direction of movement of the openable and closable member to open the opening coincides with the direction of the sliding movement for being positioned. A force needed for the movement of the openable and closable member is arranged to be larger than a force needed for the sliding movement of the developer accomodating container. The device also includes a regulating member, which prevents the developer accomodating container from being moved from the predetermined position when the openable and closable member is opened. In order to prevent mismounting of an improper developer accomodating container, engagement between the developer accomodating container and a mounting portion for the container is arranged to be different in accordance with the kind of the developer.

    摘要: A printer having an ink container, an ink jet head, and an ink storage container for temporarily storing ink to be supplied from the ink container to the ink-jet head, the ink storage container having a closable air communicating portion communicating with ambient air. A first ink path connects the ink container to the ink storage container, defines a flow of ink from the ink container to the ink storage container, and is provided with a one-way flow restricting member for permitting only a flow of ink in a direction of discharge from the ink container. A second ink path connects the ink storage container to the ink container and defines a flow of ink for returning an excess amount of ink over a predetermined liquid amount in the ink storage container to the ink container. An opening/closing member opens and closes the air communicating portion to ambient air. A buffer container is provided at a portion of the first ink path between the one-way flow restricting member and the ink storage container and is capable of maintaining a predetermined liquid amount. A transfer member transfers ink from the buffer container and is provided at a portion of the first ink path between the buffer container and the ink storage container.

    摘要: A method for refilling liquid using a refilling container is to refill liquid to a liquid reserving container, which is provided with a first chamber that houses a negative pressure generating member, at the same time, having an aperture conductively connected to the outside, and with a second chamber conductively connected with the first chamber through a communicating unit for forming essentially a closed space with the exception of the communicating unit. This method comprises the step of forming an essentially closed space from the atmospheric air by means of the second chamber and the refilling container with the exception of the communicating unit in a state where the liquid surface of the refilling container is positioned higher than the liquid surface of the second chamber, and the step of arranging the second chamber to be conductively connected with the refilling container by use of a first path that enables gas in the second chamber to communicate with gas in the refilling container, and a second path, which is different from the first path, arranged for shifting liquid in the refilling container into the second chamber. With the method thus arranged, liquid in the liquid refilling container is refilled into the liquid reserving chamber quickly and stably without leakage from the aperture arranged for the first chamber.
