Abstract:
A system and method for identifying a key blank from a master key is provided. The system includes a housing, a first source of uniform light fixed relative to the housing, and a second source of uniform light fixed relative to the housing and disposed at an angle relative to the first source of uniform light. A reflecting device is proviced that has a reflective surface and a transparent surface. The reflecting surface is configured to reflect light generated by the second source of uniform light towards the first source of uniform light such that when a master key is disposed in the housing, the first source of uniform light generates a profile image of the master key and the second source of uniform light illuminates a surface of the master key. A receiver is operable to capture an image of the master key through the transparent surface of the reflecting device.
Abstract:
A floating beverage holder for use in water sports. The beverage holder contains a plurality of cavities for holding cans or bottles, and has sufficient volume to provide the required buoyancy and which can support the beverage holder on water when the beverage holder contains combinations of cans and bottles. The design of the beverage holder makes the floating beverage holder virtually un-tipable. A housing is provided in the larger beverage holders for storage of food, ice, or bathing supplies.
Abstract:
A hydraulic pilot valve has a joystick which is normally maintained in a neutral position by coil springs acting on plungers which engage corresponding first cam surfaces of a cam fixed to the joystick. The plungers are each connected to respective valve members which are stroked to open the pilot valve when the plungers are depressed. When the joystick is pivoted to depress one of the plungers by engaging the head of the plunger so as to stroke one of the valve members, that valve member is held stroked by an magnetic detent. The joystick may then be released and the valve member will remain in its stroked position. When the joystick is moved back towards a neutral position, a second cam surface on the joystick engages an outer end portion of the depressed plunger and applies an axial force to the plunger. This disengages an armature component of the magnetic detent from an electromagnetic component. A spring then pushes the plunger to its neutral position where the plunger holds the valve member operated thereby closed. In accordance with one embodiment, one joystick operates four valve members and, in accordance with another embodiment, the pilot valves are stacked. When the joystick operates four valve members, a spring biased sliding cam is mounted on the joystick for engaging the end surfaces of the plunger heads. A cam having four raised, arcuate cam surfaces is fixed to the joystick for engaging frustoconical sides of the plunger heads so that the plunger heads can be trapped between the sliding cam and raised cam surfaces to minimize slop.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for duplicative notching of the serration edge on a key blank according to the serration edge of an existing key serving as a templet. An axially movable key edge notching punch is controlled by the templet for punching a notch in the serration edge of the key blank corresponding to a notch in the serration edge of the templet when the punch is driven toward the key blank. The key blank and the templet key may be supported in a cassette which is indexible relative to the punch. The cassette and the notching mechanism are especially advantageous for notching the serration edges of key blanks carried by wallet size plastic cards.
Abstract:
A low thermal expansion glass includes a base glass material having a front surface, a back surface, and a thickness and a glass coating material applied on at least the front surface of the base glass material. The base glass material consists essentially 10 wt % to 20 wt % titania and 80 wt % to 90 wt % silica. The glass coating material also consists essentially of titania and silica, but the total amount of titania in the glass coating material is lower than the total amount of titania in the base glass material. A silica-titania glass element suitable for extreme ultraviolet lithography applications consists of 12 wt % to 20 wt % titania and 80 wt % to 88 wt % silica and has a coefficient of thermal expansion of essentially 0 ΔL/L in a temperature range of −20° C. to +100° C.

Abstract:
A method and system for identifying a key blank corresponding to a master key is provided. The system includes a housing. A first source of uniform light is fixed relative to the housing. A second source of uniform light is fixed relative to the housing and is disposed opposite the first source of uniform light such that the master key is disposable therebetween. The first and second sources of uniform light are operable to generate an image of the master key. A receiver captures the image of the master key. A control having a memory configured to store information on a plurality of key blanks identifies the key blank corresponding to the master key based on the captured image.
Abstract:
An engraving apparatus for engraving a workpiece selected by a user. The workpieces are contained in storage columns and biased into a shuttle by a spring system mounted externally to each storage column. The shuttle is moved by the engraver between loading, engraving, and dispensing positions. The workpieces are clamped during the engraving process by a piston and cam arrangement, which provides the desired clamping force yet can be disengaged to facilitate movement of the shuttle by the engraver.
Abstract:
A key cutting machine includes a cutter wheel, a key follower and a key positioning fixture for retaining a master key and a key blank in defined positions. Longitudinal and lateral displacement elements displace the cutter wheel and the key blank relative to each other. First and second electronic position sensors generate cutter wheel longitudinal and lateral position signals which electrically define the position of the cutter wheel relative to the key blank blade. A mode control system selectively operates the key cutting machine in either an analog mode where the bit notch pattern of a master key is mechanically traced and duplicated in the key blade blank or in a digital mode in which an electronically defined bit notch pattern is electrically duplicated in the key blank blade without reference to or tracing the master key bit notch pattern.
