Abstract:
The invention relates to methods and arrangements for the reliability handling of idle gap commands received in a unit of a mobile telecommunication system. A user equipment located in a cell of a mobile telecommunication network receives signalling gap commands used to activate or deactivate idle gaps for downlink measurements in the neighbour cells. It is determined whether the received gap command is reliable or not. Downlink measurements are then performed in accordance with a predefined rule in case the received gap command is determined as unreliable.
Abstract:
A user equipment (UE) in a cellular telecommunications system is able to detect the uplink/downlink configuration of a detected neighboring cell by receiving a signal from the neighboring cell. A characteristic of the received signal is detected and used as an indicator in a blind detection process to identify one or more downlink slots in the received signal. Known pilot signals in the identified one or more downlink slots can then be used to obtain a signal power measurement of the received signal. The blind detection process is also capable of detecting whether a slot of a neighboring cell's signal is a downlink unicast slot or a Multicast-Broadcast Single Frequency Network slot.
Abstract:
The signalling overhead in cellular communication systems such as OFDMA is reduced by calculating a report value as a function of each measurement value that is to be reported from a user terminal to the network. The report value is preferably based on a maximum value for the parameter measured, and can be represented by fewer bits than the measurement value. The overhead may be further reduced by selecting only the best measurement values for reporting from the user terminal to the network.
Abstract:
Out-of-sync and in-sync detections and downlink power control by UTRAN user equipment are improved in Continuous Packet Connectivity mode featuring discontinuous UL DPCCH transmission by requiring all F-DPCH transmissions from a base station to the user equipment to be valid during a UL DTX gated period. Additionally, the user equipment receives and considers all F-DPCH transmissions during the UL DTX gated period, for power control, out-of-sync and in-sync detections. If the user equipment detects an out-of-sync condition, it may immediately transmit a scheduling request to notify the network, temporarily or permanently annulling the discontinuous UL DPCCH transmission.

Abstract:
In a multi-carrier wireless communication network, positioning-aware switching of a primary carrier from a first carrier to a second carrier for a UE is constrained to enable one or more positioning measurements to be performed. Either the selection of the second carrier, the timing of switching from the first to the second carrier, or both, are constrained to enable and enhance the positioning performance. The constraints may be operative at a serving node of the network, at a UE, or both. Further constraints may be applied to the network to enhance positioning performance. Carrier switching may be across Radio Access Technology (RAT), and the positioning constraints may include configuring or re-configuring a device to perform positioning measurements in measurement gaps (e.g., on a secondary carrier in LTE systems when Positioning Reference Signals are not transmitted on the primary carrier).
Abstract:
A method in a user equipment for adjusting a transmit timing of uplink transmissions to a network node in a telecommunications system is provided. The user equipment is configurable with more than one aggregated serving cells. The reception timing of a downlink transmission from a timing reference serving cell is used as a timing reference for the transmit timing of uplink transmissions. The user equipment determines a change to a second serving cell as the new timing reference serving cell which is different from a first serving cell currently being used as the timing reference serving cell. The user equipment applies an incremental adjustment of the transmit timing of uplink transmissions for the serving cells in a group of serving cells with respect to a timing reference based on the reception timing of a downlink transmission from the second serving cell in the user equipment.
Abstract:
In a cellular communication network, a user equipment can adapt the intensity (or measurement activity) with which it attempts to identify a new neighbor cell, based on a comparison of the quality of the already identified neighbor cells with the quality of a reference cell. This intensity is lower provided that the downlink received signal level (e.g. in terms of CPICH Ec/No or/and SCH Ec/No) from an appropriate selection of neighbor cells (cells belonging to active or candidate set) is not weaker than the reference (e.g. serving) cell by a certain threshold. On the other hand the UE shall identify a new cell with higher intensity provided the downlink received signal level (e.g. in terms of CPICH Ec/No or/and SCH Ec/No) from said selection of neighbor cells is weaker than the reference cell by a certain threshold.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for testing mobile terminals in an OFDMA system, in which all or part of available downlink radio resources in a cell are transmitted. A processing unit in a test apparatus splits a set of contiguous resource blocks into separate contiguous portions. A first contiguous portion of the set of resource blocks is allocated to users of a first type, and a second contiguous portion of the set of resource blocks is allocated to users of a second type. A transmitter in the test apparatus transmits test signals to the users of the first type and the second type using the at least one contiguous set of resource blocks.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods and arrangements for handling unreliable scheduling grants in a WCDMA-communication system. A user equipment detects that a received scheduling grant is unreliable and adjust its serving grant based on that information. The user equipment is also able to report continuously received unreliable grants as an event to the network, allowing the network to adapt its operation to reduce the unreliable grants.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods and arrangements in a telecommunication system for network-controlled bandwidth for neighbor cell measurements. An appropriate network unit in the serving cell signals measurement bandwidth values to the UE which uses the signal values to perform one or more downlink measurements on the serving as well as the neighbor cells.
