A belt fusing apparatus for use in a reproduction apparatus where a colorant image is formed on a receiver member, and the colorant image is fixed on the receiver member by the belt fusing apparatus for providing image gloss to such colorant image. The belt fusing apparatus includes a fuser assembly and a pressure roller operative associated with the fuser assembly. The fuser assembly includes a fuser roller, a mechanism for supporting the fuser roller, a steering roller, and a mechanism for supporting the steering roller. A member pivotably interconnects the fuser roller support mechanism and the steering roller support mechanism so that the fuser roller support mechanism can move relative to the steering roller support mechanism to and from operative an association therebetween and a collapsed position to facilitate accessibility, serviceability, and ready replacement of a fusing belt adapted to be entrained about the fuser roller and the steering roller for movement in a predetermined direction about a closed loop path.

A reproduction apparatus fuser providing for tuning of the fuser operating parameters to match the gloss of a fused marking particle image to the gloss of a receiver member to which such image is fused. The fuser includes a heated fuser roller, with a pressure roller in adjustable nip relation with the heated fuser roller. A mechanism regulates the speed of transport of a receiver member through the nip between the heated fuser roller and the pressure roller. A control device selectively, individually adjusts the temperature of the heated fuser roller, the pressure in the nip between the heated fuser roller and the pressure roller, and the receiver member transport speed regulating mechanism in an optimum predetermined manner based upon the characteristics of a receiver member upon which a marking particle image is to be fused.

A priming agent composition useful for binding a layer containing a fluorocarbon polymeric material to a metallic or an organic polymeric substrate comprises about 98 to 99.99 weight percent of a crosslinked, glycidyl end-capped bisphenolic polymer and about 0.01 to 2 weight percent of a perfluoroalkylsubstituted glycidyl-reactive compound. A toner fuser member comprises a substrate to which a surface layer comprising an amorphous fluoroplastic material is adhered by an intervening layer comprising the described priming agent composition. The fuser member comprises metal or an organic polymeric material in the shape of a cylinder or, preferably, a belt.
Abstract:
A method of fusing an electrostatographic toner image to provide desirable levels of gloss in the fused image is disclosed. The toner particles have a loss tangent value of 1.2 or more upon fusing with combined heat and pressure. The unfused toner image is subjected to fusing in three distinct zones; a fusing zone where it is contacted with a fusing member, a cooling zone where contact with the fusing member is maintained and the image is cooled and a release zone where the image is released from the fusing member at a temperature where no toner image offset occurs.
Abstract:
A method of fusing an electrostatographic colored toner image on a transparent support to provide a projection viewable color transparency exhibiting excellent color clarity. The support comprises a polymer layer bearing the color toner image. The toner used to form the image has a loss tangent of 1.5 or less while the polymer that forms the layer bearing such image has a higher loss tangent. The transparent element is subjected to fusing in three distinct zones; a fusing zone where it is contacted with a fusing member, a cooling zone where contact with the fusing member is maintained and the toner image is cooled and a release zone where the toner image is released from the fusing member at a temperature where no toner image or polymer layer offset occurs.

An airway device for human or animal use comprising an airway tube having a distal end and a proximal end, the distal end of which is surrounded by a laryngeal cuff, adapted to fit anatomically over the laryngeal structure of a patient, wherein the device optionally further comprises a buccal cavity stabilizer located on or around the airway tube between the laryngeal cuff and the proximal end of the tube, said buccal cavity stabilizer being adapted to nest with the anterior aspect of the patient's tongue, the size, shape and configuration of the buccal stabilizer being adapted to prevent rotational or side-to-side movement of the airway device in use.

Printers are provided for printing using large particle toner. One printer has a printer controller causing a first imaging module to form first toner image using a first toner particle having a first charge-to-mass ratio and a median volume weighted diameter between 3 um and 9 um and having a first charge-to-mass ratio and, a second imaging module to form a second toner image using second toner particles having a median volume weighted diameter that is greater than 20 um and a charge-to-mass ratio that is between ⅓ to ½ of the first charge to mass ratio of the first toner times the ratio of the median volume weighted diameter of the first toner to the median volume weighted diameter of the second toner. The first toner image is transferred to a receiver using a first electrostatic field and the second toner image is transferred using a second electrostatic field.
