    Abstract: A fuel cell assembly includes at least a first flow field plate and a second flow field plate sandwiching a multilayer membrane electrode assembly, wherein the multilayer membrane electrode assembly comprises at least a 3-layer membrane electrode assembly including a first electrode facing the first flow field plate, a second electrode facing the second flow field plate and a membrane separating the electrodes, wherein each flow field plate has a flow field structure protruding from a base level of the flow field plate for distributing reactant over the respective electrode, and wherein further at least one sealing element is arranged between the first and the second flow field plate, which is adapted to prevent leakage of the reactants to an environment, wherein in a boundary area between the flow field structure and the sealing element of at least one of the flow field plates at least one bypass stopping element is arranged for avoiding the reactant bypassing the flow field structure, wherein the bypass stopping element protrudes from the respective base level of the flow field plate, wherein the at least one bypass stopping element has a pointed portion, which is adapted to compress the multilayer membrane electrode assembly, as well as a flow field plate for such a fuel cell assembly.

    Abstract: A manufacturing arrangement for a fuel cell stack or at least a unit fuel cell of the fuel cell stack includes at least a pre-arrangement site for arranging a membrane electrode assembly and a bipolar plate in a predefined orientation to each other, wherein the bipolar plate has at least one opening and/or at least one specific contour, and wherein the membrane electrode assembly and the bipolar plate are oriented to each other in such a way that the membrane electrode assembly covers at least one opening in the bipolar plate and/or extends over the bipolar plate in at least one area; wherein the manufacturing arrangement further includes at least one cutting site with a cutting device which is adapted to cut the membrane electrode assembly in a predetermined area so that the membrane electrode assembly has a cut opening, which resembles the at least one opening of the bipolar plate, and/or at least one cut contour, which resembles the at least one contour of the bipolar plate, and/or at least one cut alignment structure for aligning the unit fuel cells in a fuel cell stack, as well as a corresponding manufacturing method.

    Abstract: A catalytic burner arrangement is provided including at least a catalytic burner unit with a housing having a reaction chamber in which a catalyst is arranged, wherein the catalyst is adapted to react a fuel, particularly a hydrogen containing fluid, with an oxidant, particularly air, for producing heat, the housing having a fluid inlet for supplying a fluid stream into the housing and a find outlet for exiting a fluid stream from the housing, and the catalytic burner arrangement further includes a mixing unit forming a mixing chamber in which fuel and oxidant are mixed, wherein the mixing device includes a fuel inlet, an oxidant inlet and an fuel-oxidant-mixture outlet, and wherein the fluid inlet of the catalytic burner unit merges with the fuel-oxidant-outlet of the mixing unit for transferring the fuel-oxidant-mixture from the mixing chamber to the reaction chamber of the catalytic burner unit wherein the fuel-oxidant-outlet of the mixing chamber is pipe-shaped and extents into the mixing chamber of the mixing unit, and wherein a length of the pipe-shaped fuel-oxidant-outlet extents over the oxidant inlet and/or the fuel inlet.
