Abstract: A combustion control apparatus of an Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) reforming system and a method for controlling the same may include a burner provided to supply heat to a reformer, a flame temperature analyzer configured to analyze a flame temperature of the burner, an air flow rate calculator configured to determine an initial value of a flow rate of air to be supplied to the burner depending on a flow rate of fuel gas supplied to the burner, and an air flow rate controller electrically connected to the air flow rate calculator and the flame temperature analyzer and configured to select the flow rate of the air at which the flame temperature transmitted by the flame temperature analyzer reaches a maximum while changing the flow rate of the air from the initial value and to control supply of the selected flow rate of the air to the burner.

Abstract: A structured catalyst for steam reforming of the present disclosure is used for producing reformed gas containing hydrogen from a reforming raw material containing hydrocarbon, and includes a support having a porous structure constituted of a zeolite-type compound, and at least one catalytic substance present inside the support. The support includes channels connecting with each other, and the catalytic substance is metal nanoparticles and present at least in the channels of the support.

Abstract: A hydrocarbon feed stream is exposed to heat in an absence of oxygen (pyrolysis) to convert the hydrocarbon feed stream into a solids stream and a gas stream. The solids stream includes carbon. The gas stream includes hydrogen. The gas stream is separated into an exhaust gas stream and a first hydrogen stream. The first hydrogen stream includes at least a portion of the hydrogen from the gas stream. The carbon is separated from the solids stream to produce a carbon stream. Electrolysis is performed on a water stream to produce an oxygen stream and a second hydrogen stream. At least a portion of the oxygen of the oxygen stream and at least a portion of the carbon of the carbon stream are combined to generate power and a carbon dioxide stream. At least a portion of the generated power is used to perform the electrolysis on the water stream.

Abstract: Systems for producing hydrogen gas for local distribution, consumption, and/or storage, and related devices and methods are disclosed herein. A representative system includes a pyrolysis reactor that can be coupled to a supply of reaction material that includes a hydrocarbon. The reactor includes one or more flow channels positioned to transfer heat to the reaction material to convert the hydrocarbon into an output that includes hydrogen gas and carbon particulates. The system also includes a carbon separation system operably coupled to the pyrolysis reactor to separate the hydrogen gas the carbon particulates in the output. In various embodiments, the system also includes components to locally consume the filtered hydrogen gas.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for producing synthesis gas (syngas) using bio-oil. In some embodiments, syngas is produced by steam reforming bio-oil. In some embodiments, the bio-oil is provided in liquid form. In some embodiments at least some of the liquid bio-oil is transitioned into droplet form when entering a reformer for steam-reforming. In some embodiments, the reformer produces a gas stream comprising syngas, which may be fed to a furnace (e.g., direct reducing furnace, shaft furnace) for reducing iron ore to iron. In some embodiments, the amount of oxygen provided to the reformer is regulated based on an equivalence ratio (ER) corresponding to moles of oxygen fed to the reformer divided by moles of oxygen necessary to achieve stoichiometric combustion of the bio-oil, wherein an exemplary ER value is from about 0.1 to about 0.6.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods useful for power production. In particular, a power production cycle utilizing CO2 as a working fluid may be configured for simultaneous hydrogen production. Beneficially, substantially all carbon arising from combustion in power production and hydrogen production is captured in the form of carbon dioxide. Further, produced hydrogen (optionally mixed with nitrogen received from an air separation unit) can be input as fuel in a gas turbine combined cycle unit for additional power production therein without any atmospheric CO2 discharge.

Abstract: Methods of producing a hydrogen-enriched product and recovering CO2 are described. A synthesis gas stream from a hydrogen production process unit is separated in a hydrogen pressure swing adsorption unit into a high-pressure hydrogen stream and a hydrogen depleted tail gas stream, and the hydrogen depleted tail gas stream is compressed. The compressed tail gas stream is separated in a CO2 fractionation system into a CO2-enriched product stream and an overhead stream. The overhead stream is separated in an overhead hydrogen PSA system into a second high-pressure hydrogen stream and a low-pressure tail gas stream. The first and second high-pressure hydrogen streams and the CO2-enriched product stream are recovered. The low-pressure tail gas stream from the overhead hydrogen PSA system is combusted with oxygen to produce steam, electricity, or both.
