Abstract:
An open service provisioning method may be implemented by a terminal. The method may include receiving a customer's selection of a first-time network access provider and network service provider (NAP/NSP). The method may also include establishing a connection with the first-time NAP/NSP. The method may also include receiving information about possible other NAPs/NSPs while connected to the first-time NAP/NSP. The method may also include receiving the customer's selection of a home NAP/NSP. The method may also include assisting the customer to sign up for service with the home NAP/NSP. The method may further include establishing a connection with the home NAP/NSP.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for communicating with a multimode mobile station supporting multiple radio access technologies (RATs) are provided. For certain embodiments, when a paging request is received via a first RAT network, paging requests may be broadcast on all RATs supported by the mobile device. As a result, the mobile device may receive the paging request regardless of which RAT it used for a current network connection.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a mobile station apparatus in a communication system. The communication system comprises a plurality of base stations for providing mobile communication service within a covered communication area. The mobile station apparatus comprises a memory for recording a predetermined access control class and determining which base station the mobile station apparatus is allowed to camp on for conducting mobile communication service, a battery for providing electrical power, a control program, and a power detector for detecting the current power of the battery, so that when the power detector detects that the power is lower than a predetermined low power watermark, the power detector issues a trigger signal. When the control program receives the trigger signal, the control program overwrites the predetermined access control class, so as to allow the mobile station apparatus to conduct mobile communication service through other base stations in the communication area.
Abstract:
Call processing system and method for mobile users. The processing system identifies call urgency by categorizing incoming emergency data calls, and prioritizes the data calls accordingly. The emergency call processing method comprises submitting a data call to an emergency call center, placing the data call in a queuing system according to the priority level of the emergency, and waiting for an available processing unit to call back and address the emergency. During the waiting period, the emergency call center solicits information associated with the emergency, and user equipment returns the requested information automatically. The present invention improves efficiency of the emergency call center, ensuring that the most urgent emergency is served first. Additionally, the present invention conserves battery power of user equipment by collecting relevant information beforehand using data messages.
Abstract:
A method for proceeding with communications by a mobile device is provided. The method first determines if any registered public land mobile network has been stored in the mobile device. If yes, the method determines if the signals from the registered public land mobile network are clear enough to maintain a good communication quality. If yes, the method determines if the mobile device is one legitimate user of the registered public land mobile network. If yes, the mobile device starts to transmit signals via the registered public land mobile network.
Abstract:
Certain embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods for improving a service flow of a mobile device based upon a different level of its available battery power. If the battery power availability is below a predefined threshold, then one or more power-saving techniques can be triggered that increase an air time of the mobile device and provide savings of power consumption at different rates using a different level of clock rate.
Abstract:
A subscriber station may receive a WiMAX connection identifier (CID) scheduling message from a 2G/3G network. The WiMAX CID scheduling message may include scheduling information that indicates when Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) data for the subscriber station will be transmitted from a WiMAX network. The subscriber station may receive the MBMS data from the WiMAX network in accordance with the scheduling information.
Abstract:
This application provides techniques for a mobile station (MS) to determine whether a base station (BS) successfully receives a response to a BS request for the MS to enter an idle mode.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for conserving battery power in a mobile device for wireless communication by dynamically adjusting the clock frequency and/or the voltage of the device's processor according to the Media Access Control (MAC) layer state are provided. By using a higher clock frequency and/or a higher voltage for a normal operation state with large amounts of data traffic and lower clock frequencies and/or lower voltages for other MAC layer states (e.g., acquisition, network entry, and sleep/idle states), battery power may be conserved, thereby extending the time in which the device may operate between battery charging cycles.
Abstract:
By controlling whether operations are offloaded to a protocol stack hardware accelerator as a function of data rate, power consumption may be reduced, for example, when data rates result in fragmented or segmented data not suitable for processing by the stack hardware accelerator.
