Example embodiments of the invention include a method comprising the steps of transmitting, by a first device via an out-of-band short-range communication carrier, an indication to a second device that a carrier switch from the out-of-band short-range communication carrier to an in-band short-range communication carrier is desired; receiving in response to the transmitted indication, a response from the second device via the out-of-band short-range communication carrier including an indication that the carrier switch from the out-of-band short-range communication carrier to the in-band short-range communication carrier is confirmed; and modifying, by the first device, device detection procedure associated with the in-band short-range communication carrier to improve detection of paging signals on the in-band short-range communication carrier.

In some embodiments, the first packet is an identifier packet including extension data indicating via a predetermined bit pattern that the device is itself configured to perform the enhanced procedure.

The method and system transmits a data packet to multiple slave devices across a UWB wireless network, and detects the reception of any acknowledgement transmissions. These acknowledgement transmissions indicate reception of the data packet by the slave devices. In addition, the method and system retransmit the data packet to at least one of the slave devices when an acknowledgment is not detected for each of the slave devices. The acknowledgments may be received from the UWB network.

摘要： A system for managing the simultaneous operation of a plurality of radio modems in a single wireless communication device (WCD). The multiradio control may be integrated into the WCD as a subsystem responsible for scheduling wireless communications by temporarily enabling or disabling the plurality of radio modems within the device. The multiradio control system may comprise a multiradio controller (MRC) and a plurality dedicated radio interfaces. The radio interfaces are dedicated to quickly conveying delay sensitive information to and from the radio modems. The modems may further include control features that take information from the MRC as an input in determining the priority of messages to be sent out to a receiving device.

In at least one example implementation, an apparatus may comprise at least a control entity and a communication entity. The control entity may transmit a command to the communication entity, the command instructing the communication entity to set certain operational parameters. The communication entity may then send a response to the command, and the control entity may determine if the certain operational parameters have been set in the communication entity based on the response. If the certain operational parameters have been set, the control entity may initiate a first device discovery mode in the apparatus. Alternatively, a second device discovery mode may be initiated by the control entity if it is determined that the certain operational parameters have not been set in the communication entity.
