Abstract: A method provides information about stations in an irrigation system which are simultaneously active. An irrigation flow curve image is displayed which summarizes flow information for an irrigation system. The method interacts with a user to receive an indication from a user interface pointing device of a position within a flow curve area of the irrigation flow curve image on the display. The method retrieves detail information for stations in the irrigation system which are simultaneously active at a time indicated by the position of the user interface pointing device. Detail information is displayed isolating the stations in the irrigation system which are simultaneously active at the time indicated by the position of the user interface pointing device, wherein the detail information further individually indicates irrigation activity for stations which are simultaneously active at the time indicated by the position of the user interface pointing device.

Abstract: A steel projectile assuming the general shape of a teardrop compensates for the lower density of the material as compared to lead and still achieves penetration into the target that is comparable to spherical lead pellets. Additional benefit of the elongated exterior geometry of the projectile is less scatter and less aerodynamic drag during flight.

Abstract: In-Seeker Jamming Device, suitable for an RF missile, utilizes the high-gain antenna and amplifier that are already a part of the missile. During the “blind range” between the termination of the missile's active tracking of the target at a pre-selected distance from the target and its impact on the target, the Jamming Device produces signals that are broadcast via the missile's antenna and are designed to jam and frustrate the active protection system (APS) radars, thereby rendering the APS radars ineffective and the intended targets vulnerable.

Abstract: A method, computer program product, and system for migrating URL data objects in a proxy server array when an array member is removed, added, or temporarily unavailable. An array membership list containing array membership information is available at each proxy server in the array and at all enabled client that is used in conjunction with the URL as the information for identifying the correct proxy server where the URL data object resides. First, a deterministic hash value is computed for each proxy server name and the URL. Next, a combined hash value is computed that combines the URL hash value with each proxy server hash value. Finally, the proxy server with the highest “score” or combined hash value is identified as the proxy server where the desired URL data object should reside in local cache storage. Since the array membership list, the URL, and the hashing algorithm is the same at each proxy server or enabled client, the same proxy server will be identified as having the URL data object regardless of which proxy server originally receives or enabled client generates the URL data object request. The hashing algorithm is designed to automatically compensate for changes in the array membership list so that only the fewest amount of URL data objects will migrate from the local cache of one proxy server to another proxy server as a result of array membership changes.

Abstract: In a computer system having a processing unit, a primary memory space (RAM) and a secondary memory space (disk), the primary memory space being allocated between a virtual memory portion and a disk cache portion, a method of dynamically adjusting the allocation of the primary memory space. The number of times that the processing unit accesses the secondary memory space in a predetermined time period is measured. Next, it is determined whether an adjustment to the allocation of the primary memory space would reduce the number of times that the secondary memory space is accessed by the processing unit. If it is determined that an adjustment to the allocation of the primary memory space would reduce the number of times that the secondary memory space is accessed by the processing unit, then the allocation of the primary memory space will be adjusted by increasing the portion allocated to either virtual memory or disk cache, and decreasing the portion allocated to the other.

Abstract: A computer system constructs a compression dictionary for compressing a character string by interrogating an initial substring portion to determine input string characteristics that are used to select one or more dictionary segments from a library of predetermined dictionary segments individually adapted for compressing strings with particular characteristics. The initial substring portion is dynamically determined during the interrogation. A first set of dictionary segments that meet predetermined automatic selection criteria are selected and a second set of candidate dictionary segments that meet second-level selection criteria are identified for a sampling phase. During the sampling phase, the candidate dictionary segments are alternately used to compress the initial substring portion and determine compression performance statistics. The performance of the dictionary segments in the sampling phase determines which candidate dictionary segments will be added to the first selected dictionary segments, within dictionary total size limits. The first selected dictionary segments and the identified segments constitute a system-built compression dictionary that is used to compress the remainder of the input string. In this way, predetermined compression dictionaries are selected for maximum efficiency in accordance with the data actually being compressed and compression can be carried out quickly and efficiently as input data is received.

Abstract: The present invention provides a portable source of high pressure gas that may be used by service or construction workers. A portable high pressure cylinder is filled with liquid CO.sub.2. A triggering device is threadably connected to a fitting on the upper portion of the cylinder, which fitting contains a high pressure press release valve and an over-pressure relief valve. A unitary housing for the triggering device contains all of the other internal working parts, including the push plate, plunger, and other components for a simplistic, easily usable source of pressurized gas. A belt clip allows the workmen to carry the source of pressurized gas with them for ease of use in their jobs.

Abstract: A method of making a sign is described which comprises taking a transfer material and a temporary support sheet, the transfer material comprising a transparent or translucent carrier sheet bearing on one side a plurality of transferable indicia, which are either sufficiently adhesive as such to enable their transfer to the support sheet or which bear a layer of adhesive on their face remote from the carrier sheet, or which are non adhesive but transferable by virtue of a coating of adhesive on the temporary support sheet, the adhesive if present being adapted to adhere the indicia to the temporary support sheet more strongly than they adhere to the carrier sheet, and wherein the material of the indicia is adhesive under the application of heat and pressure, transferring indicia from the transfer material to the temporary support sheet in the desired order to build up the desired legend for the sign, and applying the transferred indicia under heat and pressure to the surface of a transparent or translucent sheet, e.g. of acrylic plastics, to form the sign. After such transfer the indicia may be overcoated, e.g. with a contrasting color background. The legend is read through the transparent or translucent sheet which protects it against abrasion or other damage.

Abstract: A missile is provided with a motor section that is separated from a guidance and control section by a roller bearing section. A shaft connected to the motor section extends through the roller bearing section and connects to a gear unit that drives a shaft connected to an electrical generator. As the missile moves in flight, vanes on the motor section catch air flow which causes the motor section to rotate. The kinetic energy of the motor section is then converted into electrical energy by the gear unit and electrical generator. A flight computer, a sensor and electro-mechanical actuators are supplied electrical energy from a voltage regulator connected to the electrical generator. The electro-mechanical actuators are connected to corresponding control fins which control the flight path of the missile.
