    Abstract: Prosthetic valves and methods of implanting prosthetic valves may be provided, including a prosthetic valve for implantation within a native heart valve. The prosthetic valve may include an annular valve body, a plurality of atrial anchoring arms, and a plurality of ventricular anchoring legs. The arms and legs may extend radially outward from the annular valve body and may each include a native valve tissue engaging portion. The arms may be angularly offset from the legs, with the tissue engaging portion of each arm and each leg arranged such that when the arms and legs are positioned on opposing sides of native heart valve tissue, the native heart valve tissue may assume a serpentine arrangement between the arms and the legs.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to prosthetic valves and methods of use thereof. In one implementation, a method of implanting a prosthetic valve within a native mitral valve may be provided. The method may include delivering the prosthetic valve into a heart chamber. The prosthetic valve may be constrained in a contracted delivery configuration. The prosthetic valve may include an annular valve body with a plurality of ventricular anchors and a plurality of atrial anchors attached thereto. The method may also include unconstraining the plurality of ventricular anchors and the plurality of atrial anchors while maintaining the valve body in the contracted delivery configuration. The method may also include unconstraining the valve body from the contracted delivery configuration while the unconstrained atrial anchors are positioned within an atrium and while the unconstrained ventricular anchors are positioned within a ventricle.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to prosthetic valves and methods of use thereof. In one implementation, an expandable annular valve body may include a plurality of atrial anchoring arms and ventricular anchoring legs extending therefrom. The anchoring arms and anchoring legs may be configured to assume a delivery configuration in which they are radially constrained, such as within a delivery device, and a deployed configuration, in which they may deflect radially outward. The anchoring legs may deflect radially outward by less than 90° when transitioning from the delivery configuration to the deployed configuration. Portions of the anchoring arms may deflect radially outward by at least 90° when transitioning from the delivery configuration to the deployed configuration.

    Abstract: A prosthetic valve for implantation within a native mitral valve may be provided. The prosthetic valve may include an annular valve body, a plurality of atrial anchoring arms configured to extend radially outward from the annular valve body, and a plurality of ventricular anchoring legs configured to extend radially outward from the annular valve body. The arms may be configured to engage an atrial portion of the native mitral valve and the ventricular anchoring legs may be configured to engage a ventricular portion of the native mitral valve. The atrial anchoring arms and the ventricular anchoring legs may be positioned relative to each other such that when the atrial anchoring arms and ventricular anchoring legs engage the native mitral valve, a volume between the atrial anchoring arms and ventricular anchoring legs is configured to be substantially filled with tissue.

    Abstract: A tubular valve body has an upstream end and a downstream end, and has a central longitudinal axis, and defines a lumen along the axis. Prosthetic leaflets are disposed within the lumen, and are configured to facilitate one-way movement of fluid through the lumen in an upstream-to-downstream direction. The valve body has a cellular structure defined by a plurality of joists connected at nodes, the joists and nodes delimiting cells of the cellular structure. The nodes include minor nodes at which 2-4 joists are connected, and major nodes at which 6-8 joists are connected. The cells of the cellular structure comprise a first circumferential row of first-row cells. Each of the first-row cells is connected to each of its circumferentially-adjacent first-row cells at a respective one of the major nodes, and is longitudinally delimited by two of the minor nodes. Other embodiments are described.

    Abstract: A prosthetic valve is provided that includes a tubular valve body and a plurality of prosthetic leaflets disposed within a lumen of the valve body. The valve body includes struts, has an upstream end and a downstream end, and defines a lumen. The valve body is shaped so as to define a circumferential row of four-sided closed cells. Each of the four-sided closed cells is defined by some of the struts, which are shaped so as to collectively define the following four sides: a left upstream side, a right upstream side, a left downstream side, and a right downstream side. Exactly two of the four sides of each of the four-sided closed cells are double-strutted. Other embodiments are also described.

    Abstract: A prosthetic valve includes a tubular portion coupled to an upstream support portion, and ventricular legs. The prosthetic valve is transitionable from a compressed state into a partially-expanded state in which (1) a downstream surface of the support portion defines (i) an annular concave region extending radially between a concave-region inner radius and a concave-region outer radius, and (ii) an annular convex region, radially outward from the annular concave region, extending radially between a convex-region inner radius and a convex-region outer radius, and (2) the tip of each leg is disposed radially between the concave-region inner radius and the concave-region outer radius. In a fully-expanded state each leg's tip is disposed radially between the convex-region inner radius and the convex-region outer radius. Other embodiments are also described.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure include a method for use at a native valve of a heart of a subject. At a distal portion of a delivery tool, a balloon is coupled to a shaft. The distal portion is advanced to the heart with an implant and the balloon disposed within a capsule. The implant includes a tubular frame and one or more shape-memory flanges. The tubular frame is compressed around the balloon, and the flanges are constrained within a downstream capsule-portion of the capsule. The flanges are exposed from the downstream capsule-portion such that the flanges automatically deflect radially outward. Subsequently, the flanges are pressed against a downstream surface of the native valve by moving the implant in an upstream direction. While the flanges are in contact with the downstream surface, the tubular frame is plastically expanded radially by inflating the balloon. Other embodiments are also described.
