摘要: A genetic algorithm (GA) approach is used to adapt a wireless radio to a changing environment. A cognitive radio engine implements three algorithms; a wireless channel genetic algorithm (WCGA), a cognitive system monitor (CSM) and a wireless system genetic algorithm (WSGA). A chaotic search with controllable boundaries allows the cognitive radio engine to seek out and discover unique solutions efficiently. By being able to control the search space by limiting the number of generations, crossover rates, mutation rates, fitness evaluations, etc., the cognitive system can ensure legal and regulatory compliance as well as efficient searches. The versatility of the cognitive process can be applied to any adaptive radio. The cognitive system defines the radio chromosome, where each gene represents a radio parameter such as transmit power, frequency, modulation, etc. The adaptation process of the WSGA is performed on the chromosomes to develop new values for each gene, which is then used to adapt the radio settings.

摘要: A first network device may discover one or more values of one or more parameters corresponding to a plurality of links and/or devices of the network. The first network device may compare the discovered one or more values of the one or more parameters to an expected one or more values of the one or more parameters. The first network device may determine whether to transmit data onto a network path between the first device and one of the plurality of devices based on a result of the comparison, wherein at least one of the plurality of links and/or devices are not part of the network path. The first network device may be operable to utilize the discovered parameter values to generate a security key which may be utilized to encrypt and/or scramble content prior to transmitting the content onto the network.

摘要: A first device of a multimedia over coax alliance (MoCA) network may grant a second device of the MoCA network permission to enter a power-saving state. While the second device is in the power-saving mode, the first device may grant bandwidth to the second device during one or more predetermined timeslots. The bandwidth may be granted without a corresponding reservation request from the second device. While the second device is in the power-saving state, it may track time utilizing a clock that is synchronized to the system time of the MoCA network, and transmit during one or more of the predetermined timeslots without first transmitting a corresponding reservation request. The second device may utilize a first modulation profile when not operating in the power-saving state, and utilize a second modulation profile when operating in the power-saving state.

摘要: Methods and systems for improved cross polarization rejection and tolerating of coupling between satellite signals may comprise receiving radio frequency (RF) signals on a chip, where the RF signals comprising a desired signal and at least one crosstalk signal. The received RF signals may be down-converted to baseband frequencies, and the down-converted signals are converted to digital signals. Crosstalk may be determined by estimating complex coupling coefficients between the received RF signals utilizing a de-correlation algorithm across a frequency bandwidth comprising the desired and crosstalk signals. The down-converted signals may be low-pass filtered and summed with an output signal from a cancellation filter. The complex coupling coefficients may be determined utilizing the de-correlation algorithm on the summed signals, and may be used to configure the cancellation filter. Crosstalk may be canceled in a receiver path from a cancellation filter receiving low-pass filtered down-converted signals from another path.

摘要: Methods and systems for cross-protocol time synchronization may comprise, for example in a premises-based network, receiving a signal that conforms to a first communications protocol (e.g., a general-purpose communications protocol), extracting a global time of day (GTOD) clock from the received signal; and synchronizing communication on the premises-based network in accordance with a second communication protocol, based at least in part on the extracted GTOD clock. The first communications protocol may comprise data over cable service interface specification (DOCSIS) or any protocol that provides a GTOD. The second communication protocol may comprise a multimedia over cable alliance (MoCA) standard, an IEEE 802.11x standard, or any non-public wireless network protocol. The GTOD clock may comprise a GPS clock, a GLONASS clock, and/or a Galileo clock. One or more of the networked devices may comprise a network controller, where the network controller comprises wireless network and wired network capability.
