Abstract: A content distribution network includes a first server in communication with an anycast server that provides content via a unicast signal, and with a multicast server that provides the content via a multicast signal. The first server is configured to receive a list of source addresses associated with the content, and to provide a metadata file including an anycast Internet protocol address of the anycast server from the list of source addresses as an Internet protocol address of the content in response to a first request for the content. When the number of client devices requesting the content exceeds a first threshold, the first server receives an updated list of sources including a multicast Internet protocol address of a multicast server, and provides the multicast Internet protocol address of the multicast server as the Internet protocol address of the content in the metadata file.

Abstract: A satellite reception assembly may include a housing configured to support receipt and handling of a plurality of satellite signals. The housing may include circuitry incorporating integrated stacking architecture for supporting and/or providing channel and/or band stacking whereby particular channels or bands, from multiple satellite signals that are received via the satellite reception assembly, may be combined onto a single output signal that may be communicated from the satellite reception assembly to a gateway device for concurrent distribution thereby to a plurality of client devices serviced by the gateway device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for generating and routing modified multimedia data frames. In one aspect, the method includes maintaining, by a first network node, channel membership data that includes data indicating, for each channel of a plurality of channels, leaf node membership for a plurality of channels, and for each channel of the plurality of channels: determining, based on the channel membership data, the leaf nodes that are subscribed to access the channel, generating, based on the leaf nodes that are subscribed to access the channel, a modified multimedia data frame for the channel that includes (i) a hub node identifier, (ii) data that describes a destination address of each leaf node that is subscribed to access the channel and (iii) a payload, and transmitting, by the first network node, the generated modified multimedia data frame to a second network node.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for integrated channel and/or band stacking solutions. A plurality of signals may be received, such as via a signal receiver, with each of the received signals being different from remaining ones of the plurality signals. At least two received signals may be processed, such as via one or more processing circuits, and an output signal may be generated based on the processing of the at least two received signals. The output signal may include only one or more portions from each of the at least two signals, with the one or more portions being stacked within the output signal. The stacking of the one or more portions from the at least two signals may include applying channel equalization, with the channel equalization including equalizing power of a plurality of sub-components of a frequency band corresponding to the one or more portions.

Abstract: Techniques disclosed herein include systems and methods for excluding specific application traffic from customer consumption-based data billing counts. This is useful for excluding traffic from consumption totals where the application traffic has been accounted for using other means, such as through billing as a separate or technically distinct service. In practice, a tablet computer (or other end user device) can run a video application that uses a high-speed data network via a cable modem. This video application may be included as part of a core video package associated with a distinct cable television service. The system then provides accurate consumption billing of customer traffic that is outside of any other managed services by creating separate logical data service flows at a Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) for excluding specific traffic counts.

Abstract: A de-interleaving circuit that performs a time de-interleaving process on an interleaved block of an interleave signal includes: an input buffer, buffering multiple information units included in a time interleaved block; a writing address generator, generating multiple writing addresses according to a predetermined rule to write the information units buffered in the input buffer to a memory; a reading address generator, generating multiple reading addresses according to the predetermined rule to read the information units from the memory; and an output buffer, buffering the information units read from the memory. The information units are stored in multiple tiles of the memory. The tiles correspond to multiple regions of the time interleaved block, the multiple regions include a first region and a second region, and the dimensions of each tile in the first region are different from the dimensions of each tile in the second region.

Abstract: Distributed CMTS device for a HFC CATV network serving multiple neighborhoods by multiple individual cables, in which at least some and often all of the QAM modulators that provide data for the individual cables are remote QAM modulators ideally located at the fiber nodes. A CCAP set of IP/on-demand data is transmitted to the nodes using an optical fiber, often using digital protocols such as Ethernet protocols. Optionally a basic set of legacy CATV QAM data, transmitted using RF waveforms transposed to optical frequencies, may also be transmitted to the nodes using either the same or different optical fiber. The nodes extract the data specific to each neighborhood, and inject this data into unused cable QAM channels along with any optional legacy CATV QAM waveforms as desired, thus achieving improved data transmission rates through finer granularity. A computerized “virtual shelf” control system for this system is also disclosed.
