Compositions are provided comprising aqueous dispersions of electrically conducting organic polymers and a plurality of nanoparticles wherein pH can be adjusted for improved organic electronic device performance. Films deposited from invention compositions are useful as buffer layers in electroluminescent devices, such as organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) and electrodes for thin film field effect transistors. Buffer layers containing nanoparticles may have a much lower conductivity than buffer layers without nanoparticles. In addition, when incorporated into an electroluminescent (EL) device, buffer layers according to the invention contribute to higher stress life of the EL device.

There is provided an electrically conductive polymer composition. The composition contains an electrically conductive polymer and a fully-fluorinated acid polymer having acidic anion groups. A first portion of the acidic anion groups are complexed with the electrically conductive polymer. A second portion of the acidic anion groups are in the form of a salt with cations, which can be inorganic cations, organic cations, or combinations thereof. The cation concentration is in the range of 5×10−5 to 0.2 mole cation per gram solids, where the solids are primarily the total of the electrically conductive polymer plus the fully-fluorinated acid polymer.

The present invention is directed to improved transparent electrically conductive buffer layers for light-emitting diodes. The use of an aqueous dispersion containing an electrically conducting polymer and a non-ionic surfactant or an ionic fluorosurfactant to form the buffer layer has been shown to provide a buffer layer that results in improved light-emitting diode performance.

A process is disclosed for making metal plated PPD-T fibers wherein the plating is durable and highly conductive. The process involves contacting the fibers with an 80 to 90% sulfuric acid solution, neutralizing and washing the fibers with water, and then plating the fibers by an electroless plating process. The acid treatment of the fibers promotes adhesion between the metal and the fiber and high electrical conductivity for the plated metal.
