摘要: An electrophotographic image forming apparatus detachably mounts a process cartridge including an electrophotographic photosensitive drum. The apparatus includes a frame, a door, and a tray carrying the cartridge. The tray is movable among a first position inside the frame when the door is closed and the drum forms a latent image, a second position when the door is open and the tray protrudes from the frame to permit cartridge mounting and demounting, and a third position between the first and second positions where the tray is movable to the first position with closing of the door. Also, a regulating member moves between a regulating position regulating movement of the door from an opening position to a position where the tray is beyond the third position, and a permitting position permitting movement of the door from the opening to the closing position when the tray is at the third position.

摘要: In an image forming apparatus, when the openable and closable member is closed, the regulating member is mounted to the main body of the apparatus in a second state that is elastically changed from a first state; when the openable and closable member is opened, the regulating member is elastically returned to the first state; in this state, when the openable and closable member is closed, an abutting portion of the openable and closable member abuts on an abutting portion of the regulating member to regulate the openable and closable member from closing. A direction of pressing caused when the abutting portion of the openable and closable member abuts on the abutting portion of the regulating member is different from a direction in which the abutting portion of the regulating member moves when the regulating member changes from the first state to the second state.

摘要: A novel photochromic liquid crystal comprising a diarylethene compound having both photochromic properties and liquid crystallinity. This compound is a photochromic diarylethene compound having a mesogen group in each of the two aryl groups. The photochromic liquid crystal provides a large change in birefringence by photoisomerization or phase transition, and has high durability against repeated changes in birefringence. A side-chain polymer liquid crystal containing the above photochromic liquid crystal is useful as an optical recording material. Such an optical recording material is capable of performing light modulation by irradiation with light near Tc thereof, and is applicable to photo operator devices, optical memories, and the like. Further, the optical recording material is useful as a material for a recording layer of an optical recording medium such as an optical disk or an optical memory card.

摘要: An N.sup.- silicon layer is epitaxially grown on an oxide film with predetermined openings disposed on one main face of an N.sup.+ silicon substrate to form monocrystalline portions on the openings and polycrystalline portions on the oxide film. Ion implantation and thermal annealing is used to convert the polycrystalline portions to P.sup.+ external base regions and form P.sup.+ internal base regions in the monocrystalline portions. Arsenic ions are selectively implanted into the internal base regions to form N.sup.+ emitter regions. Then, base and emitter electrodes are formed on the external base and emitter regions so as to be electrically insulated from one another by an oxide film and a collector electrode is formed on the other main face of the substrate.

摘要: A laminate of the present invention includes a first transparent resin layer, a first polymer liquid crystal layer, a second transparent resin layer, and a second polymer liquid crystal layer. A process for producing the laminate involves curing a resin to form the first transparent resin layer with certain liquid crystal alignment properties. The process then involves forming the first liquid crystal layer from a curable liquid crystalline monomer or a crosslinkable polymer liquid crystal on the first transparent resin layer. The first liquid crystal layer has the liquid crystal alignment properties of the first transparent resin layer. Next, the process involves forming a second transparent resin layer with different liquid crystal alignment properties on the first polymer liquid crystal layer, then forming a second polymer liquid crystal layer on the second transparent resin layer in the same manner.
