摘要: Bipolar lipids are described which are able to form complexes with polyanions. The lipids comprise a cationic head linked to a hydrophobic backbone and a hydrophilic tail and are capable of self assembly to form stable complexes in aqueous solutions. The lipids are of particular use for the delivery of bioactive substances such as nucleic acids to cells in vitro and especially in vivo.

摘要: A method and apparatus are provided for interfacing between a data source and a tightly-coupled memory. In the method and apparatus, a write data word and a write address are received from the data source and latched in a first clock cycle within a write buffer along a write data path, between the data source and the memory. The write data word is encoded according to an error detection code along the write data path. The write address and the write data word are applied to the memory from the write buffer. The write data word is accessible to the data source from the write data path or the memory beginning with a second clock cycle, which is a next subsequent clock cycle to the first clock cycle.

摘要: Bucket tip tenons requiring refurbishment are removed from the bucket tips by grinding. Groups of buckets are clamped on a rotatable table in positions adjacent an induction heating coil and a robotic welding arm, respectively. While one group is preheated, the other group of buckets is in a welding location, enabling the welding head on the robotic arm to sequentially apply weld buildup material to the bucket tips. After applying weld buildup material in multiple passes and sequentially to the bucket tips, the buckets are removed, stress-relieved and the weld buildup material machined to provide refurbished tenons. Upon removal of the buckets from the table, the table is rotated to locate the preheated buckets in welding locations and additional buckets are clamped to the table for preheating.

摘要: A double throw latch for a carrying case has a first elongated body, a first end of the body being pivotally mounted with one part of a carrying case. There is also a second elongated body that is pivotally mounted on the first elongated body. There is a first hook element on the first elongated body, and the first hook element is located towards a second end of the first elongated body. The first hook element is for engagement with a mating first formation on a second part of the carrying case. There is also an engaging element for engagement with a portion on the first elongated body. The area adjacent to where the second elongated body pivots with the first elongated body provides an inter-engaging surface or element for engagement with an opposite face on the first part of the case. After the second elongated body is toggled a predetermined amount from the closed position, the second elongated body engages the formation of the first elongated body. The first elongated body then separates from the mating first formation of the second part of the carrying case. It thereby disengages the first hook element from the mating first formation on the second part of the case. The first elongated body pivots relative to the first part of the carrying case at a position relatively close to the body of the carrying case.

摘要: A programmable gate array is disclosed for implementing asynchronous logic. In one embodiment, the array includes a set of cells, at least one of which includes a threshold gate having a plurality of inputs, an output, and a threshold value. Signals may assume an ASSERTED state having a logic meaning and a NULL state that has no logic meaning. The gate output switches to NULL when all inputs are NULL, and switches to the ASSERTED state when the number of ASSERTED inputs exceeds the threshold value. In the preferred embodiment, the gate exhibits hysteresis such that the output remains ASSERTED while the number of ASSERTED inputs remains greater than zero, and less than the threshold value. In an alternate embodiment, an array of simplified threshold elements is used to form more complex threshold gates.

摘要: A process for the purification of terephthalic acid is disclosed. A slurry containing crystals in an impurity-containing mother liquor under elevated pressure and temperature conditions is processed to separate the crystals from the mother liquor. The processing comprises highly efficient separation and washing of the crystals under the elevated temperature and pressure conditions in a unit (32) to produce a mass of crystals having a low level of contamination. The washed crystals are reslurried in aqueous medium (vessel 40) and transferred to a secondary separation unit (34) operating under lower pressure and temperature conditions, the transfer being effected by flashing down (in vessel 44) to the lower pressure. The filtrate (41) from unit (34), and optionally wash liquor used in unit (34), is used to establish a recirculating flow whereby the aqueous medium used for reslurrying the crystals prior to pressure let-down is repeatedly re-used.

The liquid formulation can also be comprised of nitrification inhibitors and urease inhibitors that are co-dissolved or blended solutions of each These novel formulations are designed to apply to fertilizers, especially urea and manure based fertilizers These delivery formulations provide an environmentally sound and inherently safe solvating system that improves the storage stability of the urease inhibitors by utilizing liquid organic non-water containing solvents, maintain the nitrification inhibitors in solution to storage temperatures of at least 10° C. and provides improved application to fertilizer of nitrification inhibitors. These delivery formulations enable safe storage, transport and subsequent application or blending with urea based or manure based fertilizers that can be applied to soil in either a liquid or granular form to provide improved nitrogen retention in the soil for uptake for plant life.
