摘要: A surgical cutting instrument for performing endoscopic procedures such as carpal tunnel release. The cutting instrument consists of a tubular sheath or obturator constructed of a transparent material which is connected to a handle which includes means for securing a viewing instrument such as an endoscope thereto. A cutting blade is moved from a first protected or enclosed position to a second armed position, where only the blade edge is exposed at an opening in the obturator.

摘要: A surgical retractor device for manipulating organs during an endoscopic or laparoscopic surgical procedure. The retractor device includes a loop of material at a distal end of the instrument which is extendable and retractable from the elongated body portion of the instrument. The loop of material may be detached to be wrapped about an organ and reattached to secure the organ. Once the organ is secured, the loop of material may be retracted into the body portion of the instrument to manipulate the organ.

摘要: An endoscopic surgical apparatus is provided for placing lateral lines of surgical fasteners into body tissue. The apparatus includes a frame portion, an elongated portion extending from the frame portion, and an articulating fastener applying assembly associated with a distal end of the elongated portion. The fastener applying assembly includes a base portion, a staple cartridge housing, and an anvil member which has a forming surface thereon against which surgical fasteners are driven as they are ejected from the cartridge housing. A first mechanism is provided for effectuating the rotation of the fastener applying assembly about an axis defined by the body portion, a second mechanism is provided for effectuating the articulation of the fastener applying assembly, and a third mechanism is provided for independently rotating the cartridge housing and anvil member relative to a longitudinal axis defined by the base position to increase the range of operability of the apparatus.

摘要: An endoscopic surgical apparatus is provided for placing lateral lines of surgical fasteners into body tissue. 摘要: A compression device for the anastomosis of a tubular hollow organ, having a first collapsible member movable between an expanded configuration and a collapsed configuration, said first collapsible member having a first end and a second end; a second collapsible member movable between an expanded configuration and a collapsed configuration, said second collapsible member adapted to be joined with said first end of said first collapsible member; and a third collapsible member adapted to be joined with said second end of said second collapsible member; wherein at least one of said first, second or third collapsible members comprises at least one resilient hinge portion disposed thereon which is parallel to the longitudinal axis of said device to facilitate the collapsibility thereof. Also provided are surgical instruments for carrying and placing the compression device components and a device for approximating surgical devices. 摘要: The end-to-end anastomosis apparatus is provided with a mounting means which can receive a trocar for making holes in tissue and, subsequently, an anvil shaft for the mounting of an anvil assembly for stapling purposes. The anvil shaft is provided with splines which cooperate with splines on a shell liner within the housing of the apparatus to align the buckets on the anvil assembly with the staples in a cartridge secured in the apparatus. In addition, the anvil assembly is provided with a spring for locking of the anvil housing on the anvil shaft.

摘要: The fascia clip is of two-piece construction having an elongated base and a flexible strap. The base is sized to bridge over an incision in fascia tissue and has openings at opposite ends. The strap has a pointed distal end for passage through the opening at the proximal end of the base so as to pierce through the fascia tissue. After being directed under the incision, the strap can again pierce the tissue to pass through the opening at the distal end of the base in order to be gripped therein. The strap has an enlarged head at the proximal end to prevent complete passage through the opening at the proximal end of the base. In one embodiment, resilient teeth are used at the distal end of the strap to engage with a web about the opening at the distal end of the base. In another embodiment, a resilient tab on the enlarged head of the base engages in an opening in the distal end of the strap.
